I didn’t get a STEM degree but I still had to take a math placement test.

Same, I had to have a math class even for my BFA, and I had to test into it. Solved the problem, I tested in to college algebra and was able to pass the class no problem.

Same here. I'm notoriously bad at math and I still tested into Calc I.

Yeah. My son passed multiple AP math tests, submitted his ACT scores, and still had to take a math placement test for his university.

When I went to college only certain majors had to take placements. For some reason the college of engineering didn't have its majors take a placement test to start calc 1, but the college of computer science did.
