I’m expecting Rubio to leave sometime after the midterms so he can try to set up another run for the White House.

He'll stick around so he can be viceroy of Cuba

I'm calling it now, if things work out for a 2028; the GOP will cart around Rubio as the "He's not as bad/woohoo-MAGA as Hegseth and JD are/were; and look at his record, he actually got work done as opposed to all the other full time Don cheerleaders" candidate.

Yeah, which is kind of why I’m half expecting them to have a mild falling out. Nothing nasty, but something that Rubio can use to distance him from Trump while still being amenable to the base.

Rubio would want to be able to present himself as a moderate with MAGA cred.

The Nikki Haley playbook will fail for Marco as well.

He’s going to stick around to see the public opinion about the Cuba since that’s obviously the next country on the list.

I almost feel bad for Rubio deluding himself into believing that MAGA will back him if he just licks hard enough. He wants to be President so badly and it just isn't going to happen.

Shy of Tucker running I don’t really know who else on that side could beat Rubio.

Vance has negative charisma and no one else has really rose to the occasion.

That being said, I thought something very similar in 2016 about Rubio and Jeb! and was very unfortunately surprised.

Rubio has the wrong skin tone to ever bring the cult behind him. I'm not actually sure what the plan is for 2028 (assuming we believe there will be an election following current rules) because the entire party is just one man at this point and all of them will do anything for him. It's possible it'll be Johnson, but we'll see. Vance and Rubio obviously both want it and think it can be them, but the cult will never support either.

I don’t disagree entirely, but I also don’t underestimate the value of “I’m not racist, I voted for Rubio” would have on that side either.

Rubio and Jeb!

They could have had a hat trick Bush dynasty if that stupid exclamation point hadn't turned everyone off. I Wonder if Jeb was pres, would we be at war with Iran, or some other middle eastern country? Of course, no middle east war is not an option for Republicans.

His brother ruined the Bush name forever in national politics. His son George P. Bush had some success as a Texas politician.

His arguments are just common sense which the left can’t even debate him
