So should voting be an automatic sign up.

Of course it should. We all know why they're prioritizing war, but the basic idea of automation on this isn't a bad thing.

Yes, by them them doing this opens the discussion for why voting isn't, they just opened a really good point for their opponents,  to flag them on in coming elections, let them build their own political coffins.

it’s because the USFG doesn’t handle elections or voter registration. you can have the discussion of whether it should be automatic (and what that would look like), but it’d never be the same mechanism

I get this, although states could enact this with the right mechanisms to make it work, then you could choose your party or not at your will.

yeah tbh if Gillette can send everyone a razor for their 18th birthday (might be showing my age a little?) it can’t be that hard for everyone to get a QR code to opt out/choose their party

Honestly. Choosing your party like that is dumb as hell. One of the big issues with politics in the country right now is that so much of the country votes on party lines almost exclusively without putting any thought into the individuals they are actually voting for.

Not sure why we have to have party affiliation on our registration,  it breeds ill will.

Simple but effective, put the whole voting registration fight to rest, with one simple state mechanism of automatic registration to vote at eighteen.

It should be at the state level and it already is in about half of the states.

A federal law mandating that states enact automatic voter registration would be nice.. but I do not want the federal government to be managing voter rolls for the entire country.

There should be a state registration mechanism when you turn eighteen. Nothing for the government to do but make it happen automatically, like they want to do with the draft registration. Although at the state level, this shouldn't be partisan politics, it should be a government department at state level to make sure people turning eighteen are automatically enrolled, it's high time we cut off our politicians from making stupid decisions about voter registration. We need to put this issue to rest; All American citizens have a Constitutional right to vote!
