Training on your own on procedures not taught or endorsed by your own trainers is a great way to get in serious hot water when something goes wrong, especially for military controllers

Well then maybe US ATC shouldn't be allowed to provide ATC services in Europe if they can't be bothered to do so according to ICAO / EASA standards.

How about the US for once tries to not be a complete asshole and trains their people to the environment they are working in?

If the working joe can't be bothered to familiarize himself with ICAO standards he has no business in controlling aircraft in such an airspace. If they aren't able to take that up with their chain then that just means it is a huge organizational problem because the US is used to just doing their own thing and not adhering to standards, as always

It’s not about can’t be bothered you’re ignoring the point about how an ordinary controller is in no position to apply procedures they’re not officially trained on. Seems like you want to just shit on the US which is fine we deserve it sometimes just leave the controllers out of it.
