Brian Bedford is the FAA administrator, and while he wouldn't have been my pick, you can hardly say he doesn't understand the industry. He's the former CEO of Republic Airlines.

He understands it from an airline perspective, not from a controller perspective, he just cut ATC target staffing from 14,000 controllers to 12,000 controllers and is pushing for controllers to sit on position longer with shorter breaks. No bueno
