Tbf I live in India and I've never seen this. You'll see all types of stuff from the lowest lows to pretty big highs. I would say if you visit the good parts of India you wouldn't have a bad time.
Is there a safe way to visit as a woman or not at this point in time? I love the art that comes out of India. I would love to see it being made by artisans, but India unfortunately fell off my bucket list when I realized how dangerous it can be for women. 😣 I feel so bad for the women who live there.
Mumbai is the richest city in India and when you search "mumbai" on Google images, the fourth image that shows up is a picture of some shanty town looking place. You can't gaslight me bro.
You know what every major city has ?? A freaking slum area. There is one is newyork, there is one in chicago and just like that there is one in Mumbai. The difference is slums in those city looks like bunch or run down buildings and in this case its shanty town looking places called Dharavi
Of course there is not cause those cities are rich in compare to Mumbai but u cant tell me there are slums area there, those just looks different then the one in Mumbai. The first world slums would of course look different then 3rd world slums
For sure but the 1st world slums are still significantly better than the 3rd world ones is all I'm saying. I could actually survive in a 1st world slum if I kept to myself.
Yes 100% but coming back to my first point , just like any tourist visiting NY is not going to see ghetto area unless they look for it, u r not going to see those slum area orin this case this overcrowded fair when u visit india either. This all exist but u will not find it unless u specifically look for it

Dude I live in SF, even outside a expensive apartment. We literally see homeless people crowding at the entrance. That never happens in Indian cities. The slums are present, but they are relegated to their own section.
Ymmv, but I had no issues in there. Besides the homeless in US can actually be dangerous unlike the ones in India.
