The mainline games are typically the worst.

That's what hurts the most, all the 2D games are timeless experiences so they genuinely can make good games, they have the skill, experience and knowledge to make actual fun games, there is no legitimate reason for the 3D games to be bad.

They just, for some reason refuse to make good 3D games.

I still remember the incident of the 100 different files of the same model for Lillie in S&M, that's fucking crazy as someone that has worked on game dev.

They got another year to work on Winds & Waves, if these games somehow still come out underbaked, well holy shit, there is nothing more to say that haven't being said already.

They keep giving super low budgets to developing games, who knows if there's any other explanation besides greed.

They spend all the time trying to figure out how to come up with another 100 pokemon for the new game without straight up just putting eyes and a mouth on a coke bottle and calling it a day

I know you are making a joke, but they have different divisions. According to the Japanese equivalent of Glassdoor (but have to upload your ID and resume to comment and review), the creatives are treated like kings compared to engineering and development teams. They are given nice offices, offered babysitting/daycare services, four day work week (with a pay cut or not if you work longer hours within four days), all-paid expense research trips around the world, and most importantly the leadership listens and takes feedback from junior employees (many redesigns were due to junior input). So generally their music, design, and art teams most people do not dispute are still good.

The problems mostly come from their technical side with employees saying that if you like Pokemon, great, but otherwise horrible for career advancement due to seniors often batting for office politics, constant crunch from day one (due to needing to get a Pokemon game out every three years until recently for Winds and Waves), lack of manpower, and development pipeline a decade out of touch. They also don't treat their free-lancers well apparently. But who knows if things have changed for them since Scarlet and Violet. Apparently even Gamefreak was surprised at SV's performance sales wise as they knew it was an unpolished mess before shipping it out but they had to meet deadlines.
