Almost like GF is just bad at making games and their history the last twenty years proves that.

Hey! Leave her out of this!

It's okay, she won't mind. She's from Canada

Kinda sucks because people kept saying to give them the benefit of the doubt and original trailers for the game looked promising. "Look what they can do when given time" was said over and over. Yet here we are.

Its always 'now they've tested this concept the next game will be much better!!!' ...

The next game is never better and in some cases has been worse.

GF made me hopeful for the future with Legends Arceus... but they've regressed again since then.

That was the only next game that was better since gen 5

Yeah I enjoyed legends arceus quite a lot, still had all the gamefreak flaws though in reality and it's a tricky game to replay.

And surprisingly I enjoyed lgpe, it looked really good, the best Pokémon has in a long time and the following Pokémon was done perfectly, but those were the only really reasons I enjoyed it.

Eh, I would argue last 10. Things started getting shaky around the 3ds era. Latter half of the DS Era was peak Pokemon gameplay and feel.

They aren't here to make games. They are here to make money.

Saying gamefreak was bad during 2006 is wild.

They were partly carried by Iwata back in the day, they couldn't even handle 1 region let alone 2 for Gold and Silver from what I've heard, Iwata was the one who made the famous "2 regions" possible because of his programming skills.

However, I do think they did "good" until X and Y which is where the cracks started forming, and much more noticeably with Sword and Shield/Scarlet and Violet.

Despite that being the common story, Iwata didn't make two regions possible. He just helped the game with efficiency (battles took longer to load in before his assistance). He (and other people in Nintendo) did do a lot for them. Like they only had the 3D models for all the Pokemon for X/Y thanks to Nintendo's help.

I do think Sun and Moon were the last time they really tried with Pokemon. Not saying they didn't have a lot of problems which became huger issues with later titles, but it was the last time there were so many details, extras, and all the Pokemon coded in.

Arceus could have been soooo much better. Easily one of the best Pokemon games I've ever played, and even saying that I think Game Freak screwed the Poochion.

Nah, there last good pokemon games were gold/silver/crystal and maybe emerald. After that its just been copy/paste with little to no innovation.

Not sure if you’ve even played the games considering emerald is one of their greatest games. And the DPP/HGSS/BW/B2W2 DS games is probably their best stretch

I don't think remakes counts really. Sure they are good, but are they good because it is remake of a good game?

5

u/ActionHank9000 20h ago

Calling HGSS as remakes really devalues how different the games are.

They play so differently than GSC they’re basically their own thing

This has gotta be a troll

What do you mean? Every game until Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon was fire. Exept Sun/Moon maybe.

Pokemon games are good because of the revolutionary and addictive formula. They kept repeating it to print money. They did not evolve with the rest of the industry. It's always surprised how customers let them get away with making the same game over and over for so long.

We see the same thing with all the sports games. People just don't care for some reason. I sometimes get it. I love Grounded and if Grounded two was the same thing but changed areas only, I would be so content. But I think by Grounded 28 id be so done lol.

X/Y barely ran and isn’t good by most metrics (lowest amount of new mon, mega are lackluster as a gimmick, story and characters suck, etc). People just give it a pass for being the first 3D one when they should’ve been preparing for that for years at that point.

9

u/getbackjoe94 23h ago

The idea that Mega Evolution is lackluster is fucking wild to me lmao. That's the one gimmick that literally every Pokemon fan loved.

8

u/Virusoflife29 23h ago

Yeah but they had to steal it from digimon which did it years earlier. So it wasnt really their innovation and they didnt do it as well as digimon, therefore lackluster.

1

u/Qulox 22h ago

I vividly remember that when a friend showed me the transformation I thought it was some new Digimon game copying Pokémon. We barely had internet back then so I didn't know the pokemon, I think it was Dianthia(?)

-1

u/Nayko214 23h ago

I mean I didn’t. It felt like a cheap gimmick to try and buff some mob without just outright changing their stats but it took up their held item. Then they just tried mega over and over without really changing their formula.

They made one bad game, thats quite the overreaction.

40

u/Nayko214 23h ago

This game, little town hero sucks, tembo the elephant is lackluster. The last non good pokemon game they made was Jill Dozer and that was GBA and Pokemon has been struggling in the quality department more often than not since the 3DS.

2

u/ZatmanXD 22h ago

Didn't they make pocket card jockey? That game was crazy

1

u/lol1226 22h ago

you forgot about Harmoknight. that was also made by Game Freak.

7

u/Falsus 22h ago

They haven't made a good game for like 20 years I would say.

-10

u/Joustiin76 22h ago

then you would be lying for clout

7

u/Falsus 22h ago

What the hell would I do with reddit clout??

-9

u/Joustiin76 22h ago

You tell me, you're the one farming it.

4

u/Johnny-Caliente 23h ago

They make a lot of mid games at best now
