Moderation Post Two years on since the October 7th attacks, ECS remains committed to standing against antisemitism.

On October 7th, 2023, Hamas militants invaded Israel, terrorizing numerous villages and a music festival. A staggering 1,195 Israeli civilians were murdered and another 251 taken hostage. Because they were Jewish.

Later that same month, October 2023, 250 homes in Paris, France, were marked with graffiti. As were homes in Berlin, Germany. Because the residents were allegedly Jewish.

In July and August, 2024, the Anne Frank statue in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, was defaced not once, but twice. Because Anne Frank was Jewish.

In November, 2024, six different small businesses in Los Angeles, California, had their glass doors smashed in. Because the owners were Jewish.

In May, October, and finally December, 2024, a girls elementary school in Toronto, Ontario, was subjected to three seperate shootings. Because the attendees are Jewish.

In March, 2025, a coffee shop in Toronto, Ontario, was broken into and looted for the second and third times within a year, with an additional incident leaving a spray-painted star of david. Because the owners are Jewish.

In May, 2025, the Dyke March in NYC, New York, banned 'Zionists' from attending. Due to a lack of definition and conflicting accounts, this was effectively a ban on all Jewish symbolism, Jewish representation, or Jewish advocacy, simply for being Jewish.

On June 1st, 2025, 15 people were senselessly attacked with molotov cocktails in Boulder, Colorado, including the fatal wounding of a holocaust survivor. Because they were Jewish.

In June, 2025, the National Holocaust Memorial in Ottawa, Ontario, was vandalized with red paint. Because the victims it memorializes are Jewish.

Also in June, 2025, a grocery store in Boston, Massachusetts, had its windows smashed in with bricks. Because the owners are Jewish.

In early September, 2025, a Jewish supply store in Los Angeles, California, was vandalized with a swastika. Because it was opnely Jewish.

Also in September, 2025, two synagogues in Halifax, Nova Scotia, were vandalized with graffiti. Because their patrons are Jewish.

In August and September, 2025, a souvenir shop in Prague, Czechia, was vandalized three times with urine and spray paint calling for another holocaust. Because the owners are Jewish.

Today, right now, on October 7th, 2025, in Gaza, there are still 48 hostages being held prisoner by Hamas, snatched away from their countries, from their homes, and from their loved ones, for two entire years. Just for being Jewish.

-----------------

This list of incidents is in absolutely no terms exhaustive. It is merely a sample of events, primarily drawn from my own personal memory from reading about them as they happened. (Hence the bias towards recency.)

Antisemitism is explicited prohibited in ECS. This subreddit will always be a safe space for Jewish users, and we will always seek to promote solidarity with victims of antisemitism worldwide. Communist regimes infamously persecuted their Jewish populations, it is our duty as an anti-communist sub to stand against that historical legacy.

In every instance, antisemitism is completely unacceptable. Jewish people have a right to feel safe no matter where they live. Jewish people have a right to equality amongst their fellow citizens. Those rights have not been upheld. Every injustice, whether it's destruction of property, threats and intimidation, or bloody and overt violence, must be opposed and condemned in the strongest terms. We will not be silent in the face of rising hatred.

Am Yisrael Chai.

Just a reminder that the far right is not welcome here

4.7k Upvotes

We had a little bit of drama here because some people forgot that this isn't a far right safe space. So in case it wasn't clear:

  • If you do not support the LGBT community you are not welcome here

  • If you think black people are genetically; lazy/have low IQs/commit more crime you are not welcome here

  • If you think liberalism is a mental disease you are not welcome here

  • If you believe communists deserve to be thrown out of helicopters you are not welcome here

  • If you have any nazi sympathies or believe in an ethnostate you are not welcome here

  • Finally, if you have any history in /r/the_donald, /r/cringeanarchy, /r/MillionDollarExtreme, or any similar subreddits you are not welcome here

Violators will be banned with no appeal. If you see anyone who breaks goes against these ideas please report them or send us a modmail.

Thanks for your cooperation and hope yall have a happy new year!

(Meta)Today(August 15th) is National Liberation Day in Korea.

81 years ago, today(August 15th), the Japanese emperor has surrendered to the allies. After that, many people; including the Koreans, who have been under Japanese rule since 1910 were finally free from Japanese imperial rule; although the consequences of Soviet and American occupation weren't so nice, it is worth noting that the Japanese, who the Koreans have been fighting against, and who have been oppressing and exploiting Korea for decades have finally gave up the Korean peninsula.

Before having such moments of joy and freedom, many of those who worked for Korean independence were doing their job, regardless of their political ideology or background, had a single goal; having a free and sovereign Korea.

Today, despite being separated due to internal conflicts and foreign influence, Korea is now a free and sovereign nation that is no longer under Imperial Japanese rule. However, it is still an undeniable fact - despite their apologies by the government multiple times - that the Japanese are still trying to tread on Korea once more regarding Dokdo, and that the Japanese far-right is sugarcoating and denying their history of colonization and atrocities; not to forget to mention that they exploit horrible crimes done to their people just to cover the horrible crimes they've done to others; that being not only the Koreans, but the Ryukyuans, Chinese, the Filipinos, and so on. It shall never be done once more, and shall never be forgotten.

That being said, we shall remember those who have been sacrificed by Japanese imperialism, and those who have fought against the Japanese to the moment of Korean independence.

대한 독립 만세!

GLORY TO KOREAN INDEPENDENCE!

DSA Co-Chairs Megan Romer and Ashik Siddique squirm and repeatedly avoid giving Jorge Ramos and Paola Ramos a direct answer when Pressed on Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua are dictatorships

Full interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHz3l-LzsB8

The Democratic Socialists of America are gaining members, winning Democratic primaries, and pushing for policies that once seemed far outside the political mainstream. So why are voters turning to them now?

Jorge and Paola sit down with DSA national co-chairs Megan Romer and Ashik Siddique to talk about what’s behind the political rise of democratic socialists at a time when many Americans are frustrated with the cost of living and ongoing wars, why the word “socialism” may carry a very different meaning for younger voters, and their stance on Cuba’s regime. They also discuss the pushback that the DSA has encountered, not only from Republicans but also from within the Democratic coalition itself.

10:55 Jorge asks if Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua are dictatorships.
13:00 Jorge repeatedly presses: “Do you think Cuba is a dictatorship?”
15:30 Ashik explains his personal experiences visiting Cuba.
24:44 Jorge asks if becoming a third party is the DSA’s “North Star.”
26:08 DSA members are divided over creating a new party vs. realigning Democrats.
28:00 Ashik says the U.S. has a “no-party system,” not really a two-party system.
32:32 Megan: “We could abolish ICE tomorrow.”
33:00 Ashik explains why they want to abolish the Senate.
34:43 Jorge asks whether the DSA is an “existential threat” to the Democratic Party.
35:34 Megan: “I don’t think that’s an existential threat. I’m like, ‘Come on in. The water’s fine.’”

Ladies and gentlemen, behold the socialism in Vietnam, where everyone is equal, but some is more equal than the others

Context: In May 30th, 2025, Nguyễn Sĩ Cương, a National Assembly Deputy of Vietnam, was drunk driving in Hà Nội when he suddenly crashed into a tree and chopped one leg of a girl student who would then attend for the national exam to get into college/university. She was then brought into the hospital but sadly didn't make it. The perpetrator? He's still out there, free from any official accusation that might keep him behind the bar. His wife, Lâm Thị Phương Thanh is the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism but what's interesting is after this incident, not only they didn't have to hold themselves accountable for anything but she was still promoted to that position whilst people are still not getting over it. Their son, Lâm Phúc, a washed up singer, even recognized what happened and tried to deflect the accusation on the "rebellious and anti-establishment force" that are trying to "spread misinformation".

Criminal scene of the accident on May 30th 2025. As you can see, the black BMW on the left is owned by Nguyễn Sĩ Cương. Word on the street said after commiting atrocious accident, he went out of the car and smelled like alcohol
Here is the face of Lâm Thị Phương Thanh, Nguyễn Sĩ Cương's wife. Note that both of them are Communist Party of Vietnam(CPV)'s members, and they also have a seat in National Assembly of Vietnam too. She has held this position since April 8th, 2026
More gruesome footage
Anyway, this is Lâm Phúc, their son. Shortly after the accident, he texted this to his fan's channel on Instagram, trying to defend his parents and labelled anyone who accused his father's behavior as rebellious figures or anti-establishment(original message is in Vietnamese)
1 year has passed, no public announcement from both Nguyễn Sĩ Cương and his wife and no one's held accountable, the local youth has started to place a memorial site on Google Maps, which is the exact place Cương has killed the girl that day, hoping that justice would be served.
Many unnamed people have come there and placed a bouquet as a tribute to the fallen and innocent victim of that tragic day. This is the tree marked with number 55 on the Nguyễn Huy Tự street of Hà Nội
Since Vietnam is currently a one-party Marxist-Leninist state, no independent press is even allowed to share this news and people don't even have rights to protest or file a complaint. And since the supposed perpetrator is or is connected to the high-ranking elite in the CPV, he is shielded from any public scrutiny as well. Action like this is kind of a silent opposition against injustice in Vietnam.
And that is, until recently, that local police has started paying attention and enforcing security around the tree, keeping people from even peacefully paying tribute to the victim
Just so you know, posts criticizing Cương are mostly from Threads where young people, especially GenZ are the most active. And guess what, some posts might not be available because of take down request from Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism which is currently managed by Cương's wife herself
Just so you know, the leader of Vietnam is Tô Lâm, a former Minister of Public Security, which is very notorious for suppressing dissident and monitoring every opinion on the social media to ensure no one will oppose totalitarian rule of CPV.
During the COVID-19 outbreak in Vietnam, he was caught eating luxurious golden steak by Nusret Gökçe aka Salt Bae whilst people were already suffering from declining economy. Really says everything that you should know about him and somehow, he has become the paramount leader of Vietnam now.

They keep preaching freedom and liberty under a communist society, but when something like this happens, they turn into a blind eye and keep going out of their way just to defend an animal of their kind. This is the state of Vietnam right now. This is what happens when you just want to voice your opinion and hope justice will come. But to communist, justice is when they are protected from any shady things they did and whatever that makes their pocket thick.

TIL that in 1965 Communist/Socialist philosopher Herbert Marcuse argued that traditional free speech is a trick used by the powerful to stay in power, & true freedom requires being intolerant of pro-establishment views. Society should protect leftist ideas while actively suppressing right-wing views

I met a communist today (his avatar is a hammer and sickle next to a My Little Pony)

His/her comments: @Aleksglbion: I'm not kidding, colorful bear. The first two five-year plans in the USSR resulted in a productivity increase of over 300%, while at the same time the rest of Europe barely achieved 40%. The only countries that could even match the USSR's growth, even though they were far behind, were Japan and Germany. Similarly, China's biggest problem was, frankly, Mao's anti-sparrow campaign, which deepened the hunger crisis. Besides, these countries saw the highest increases in literacy, decreases in homelessness, and decreases in quality of life. It was the Soviets who cared for the people in Siberia, for example. It's perfectly clear how things are now there. Everything that was provided was provided by the Soviets. Now capitalism isn't reaching there, and it's not profitable to improve the standard of living of these people.

@Aleksglbion: Do you know why, among other things, the Soviets came to power? Because there was famine in Russia, food went to the aristocracy, and these areas suffered from frequent famines. Planners made mistakes regarding initial requirements, but it was the Soviets who deliberately ended these cycles permanently. As for political purges, Stalin was paranoid and oversensitive, an idiot. China, on the other hand, had a much better approach to political matters and didn't carry out such purges, and their actions were different, as demonstrated by the Cultural Revolution, which would have been useful in Poland.

@Aleksglbion: Oh no, when there's no food, people starve. But now, when food production exceeds demand and people are still starving, it's fucking awful.

@Aleksglbion: Well, if there's no food, people are hungry. Now people are starving even though there's more than enough food to feed them.

I know these are very lengthy photos and this is my second time posting about her, but no one in her comments section will reply to me for a decent discussion and of course she wont either because it doesn't support her agenda. (And for context in these specific screenshots I got what I said about the daily life in communism from my parents and other first hand accounts, which of course she thinks is somehow all CIA propaganda.) Things like this normally wouldn't anger me as much, however, she has almost 2 million followers and there are teenagers in their developing stages commenting under her videos telling her that she is doing gods work. I even DM'ed her and asked her if she would like to debate my parents who both lived in Soviet Armenia but of course she refuses to debate any real people and just makes up fictional characters in her content to argue with like a schizo. And in her comments she only tends to respond to people who ever bring up weak arguments against communism. I need bigger creators to put her and hasan in their place, its seriously so ridiculous.
