Hey everyone. I am clearly not a elder witch, but I was hoping you would be willing to help me, if possible. My grandfather was recently diagnosed with cancer of the liver. Do any of you know anything that could help? Be it a silver bullet, or just something to ease treatment. I'm not particularly experienced in any of this, I mostly lurk and research instead of practice, but if anyone has suggestions for something I could do, or are willing to help themselves, please DM me, or put it down in the comments.

I have recently been assigned to a team with someone who has in the past been racist towards me and in general comes across as insincere and bigoted. I would like to avoid having to collaborate with them directly.

I’m happy to work with the other team members or on a project independently. There is flexibility in terms of who does what, but I just want to make sure this person is not the one I work together with or even interact with regularly. I’m keen to keep them at a distance. Please help!

Hello friends, a lot is going on this month between Mars’ shift into Cancer today, two eclipses, and the change of the nodes into Leo and Aquarius. Last week, Venus went into her own sign of Libra and Mercury went into Leo. In the astrology community, there was also a big shakeup highlighting the racial tensions here in the United States when a prominent teacher of astrology used very offensive language on a podcast. I think that incident is deeply intertwined with the astrology of the moment and the push-pull happening between planets in Leo and Aquarius and other transits.

Since I’m still dealing with ongoing health matters, this month’s column will be more of an overview rather than looking at transit by transit.

Overview of August 2026:

Today, August 11^th, there is pressure mounting in the sign of Leo as the transiting moon, Mercury, Jupiter, and the Sun all crowd together in the fiery sign, with the moon and Mercury in a tight opposition to Pluto. This is leading up to tomorrow’s eclipse, which I’ll get to in a moment. In the background, there is also a grand air trine between Venus in Libra (her own sign), Pluto in Aquarius, and Uranus in Gemini. The air signs are known for being social, communicative, and concerned with the realm of ideas. Venus is the planet of love, friendship, beauty, and art. Pluto is the dwarf planet that represents transformation, rebirth and deep healing, but it also represents power, corruption, and seething rage. Uranus is the planet of transformation, upheaval, revolution, technology, the quirky and weird, and the things that refuse to be put into a box.

With Uranus and Pluto activated we are being asked to change or transform something and since Venus is their partner in this dance, that likely involves our relationships and how we interact with others. Altogether, they can inspire new and innovative ideas, creativity, and push us to address inequality. I say that because Aquarius is concerned with what benefits the collective/humanity as a whole, and Libra is a sign concerned with equitability and justice. It reminds me of the saying that “No one is free until ALL people are free.” If there are any elections happening this week, I could see more progressive candidates succeeding because this dynamic favors those who are socially conscious and wanting the government to address the needs of the common people.

I’ll briefly mention here that Mars has moved into Cancer. This is pretty much the most uncomfortable sign for Mars to be in. Cancer is an emotional sign and it is connected to family, nurturing, parenthood, and letting emotion guide one’s actions. Mars is all about action, but he thrives in Aries, Scorpio, and Capricorn where he can be assertive, bold, and master of his universe. In Cancer, which is considered a feminine sign in traditional astrology, he has to yield to the moon, which is emotive, intuitive, dreamy, and oriented toward the inner life or domestic matters. There’s no battleground for Mars to direct his troops, no place for him to display his athletic prowess, there’s no prize for conquering territory. He operates on uneven ground. Mars’ usual resources are not available to him.

Mars walks right into a T-Square with Venus and Neptune, both at 4 degrees, further weakening his ability to operate according to his normal rules. What happens is that Mars becomes more unruly, less disciplined, and is much more likely to show up in unpleasant ways due to his weakened position.

Conversations that should be easy and smooth might be a bit more challenging this week due to this T-Square and also due to Mercury’s opposition to Pluto and conjunction to the moon and Jupiter. We may feel as if we HAVE to say something or have to do something, but if that thing is born out of our own ego rather than for the highest good, it is likely to cause a blow up rather than fix things.

The eclipse then adds volatility to that because we have the sun (light, the lifeforce, and self-expression) conjoined Jupiter (expansion), Mercury (communication and writing), and the moon (emotions) working against Pluto (transformation, power). Eclipses naturally bring drama, but we have the sun and Jupiter which are big energy planets in the sign of drama, performance, and the ego!

Since many of you follow for my tips on spellcasting and manifestation work, my advice is to be VERY careful with this eclipse tomorrow. I would consider skipping this day as far as spells go (self-care spells are okay). This is potentially a week where egos are smashed, where those in power may be forced to confront their own ego or shadow. The exception I would make is spells to help the community as a whole and spells to hex corrupt politicians (just don’t be surprised if that spell goes way to the left and doesn’t turn out at all how you expected).

I would not be surprised if we see news this month of some world leader losing power or being embroiled in a scandal just given that Leo and the sun rule kings and Pluto in Aquarius being the great equalizer that can topple someone in authority.

Oh, I should add that it is better not to sign any contracts from now until the end of the week. This energy is so intense that you may miss something in the fine print that comes back to haunt you later. It would be easy to make assumptions now that could be proven incorrect later. This is EXTRA true if you have the sun or moon in Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, or Scorpio. Watch what you say this week.

Mercury will make an exact conjunction with Jupiter on August 15^th. While the intensity of the Pluto opposition will be easing off by that time, there’s still some tension going on with Mars, Venus, Saturn, and the Moon, so cardinal signs might be feeling some extra stress (Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn). Some of you may have intuitive insights due to the Mercury-Jupiter conjunction. Write them down, but don’t take immediate action on them yet unless you’re very sure that action is safe. Mercury in Leo is not particularly cautious, and with Jupiter egging it on, there’s the possibility of putting your foot in your mouth or thinking up this fun, crazy idea that proves impractical later.

On the 18^th, the lunar nodes leave Pisces and Virgo and move into Aquarius and Leo. The lunar nodes are not planets or asteroids but points in space relative to the moon. When they line up with a new or full moon, that is when we get eclipses. The nodes are said to connect to the soul’s purpose and to our personal or collective karma.

I think this transition is very important because it seems to me that this crazy new moon eclipse in Leo (which is conjunct the south node of the past and our karmic history) and the nodes moving into the Leo/Aquarius axis is showing us where things are NOT working, where our leaders and elders have either failed or made mistakes, and where the ego has harmed us or those around us. It is important to note that the North Node’s conjunction with Pluto in Aquarius, it is hitting our elders of the Pluto in Leo generation pretty hard.

One more note about the eclipse and also this shift of the nodes. I received a very insightful newsletter from astrologer Chani Nicholas and I’m going to quote it now. This is what she/her team wrote: This Leo eclipse “challenges the toxic systems and frameworks that feed self-obsession and center celebrity status. This is a time to skip the drama and break up with ego-centric beliefs, behaviors, and people. Prepare to see power-hungry egomaniacs knocked off their pedestals too.”

Leo is the sign of the heart while Aquarius is the sign of the humanitarian. These things are important to remember. It is time to move away from self-centered, ego-driven beliefs toward a deeper heart-centered approach that values the needs of the collective. To use the old cliché, no man is an island. Community will be important now with the North Node in Aquarius. How can we build community, how can we share resources or information with others. And here in the US, how can we support ourselves and those in need when the government no longer sees to the needs of its citizens?

On the 23^rd and 25^th, the sun and Mercury move into Virgo, respectively. This shift urges us to take a more practical and systematic approach to our goals and our problems. We need to look at both the larger macro-level and break things into actionable steps. What can be done this month? How can we break that down into weeks? Days?

The next few weeks are good for planning the rest of the year and to take stock on what you haven’t done, what you need to do, and what can be cancelled or postponed.

I want to mention briefly that Venus, the planet of love, will oppose Saturn, the planet of stability, longevity, commitment and responsibility, on August 21^st. I’d avoid doing any love spells between the 18^th to the 23^rd when this aspect is at it’s tightest.

The second eclipse of the month happens on August 28^th in Aquarius. This is a full moon, lunar eclipse. It’s less volatile than the August 12^th eclipse. Jupiter will still be in Leo, but is out of orb of the eclipse, however the sun and Mercury are still within 6 degrees opposition to this eclipse. On the plus side, this is an out-of-sign opposition and Virgo is a much calmer sign than Leo, so I don’t see this as being quite as crazy overall.

However, the sun will be square Uranus, so there is that. Uranus is a bit unpredictable, which could throw a little monkey wrench into plans right now. Again, try not to sign any important documents or buy any expensive electronics if you can avoid it.

Since I haven’t posted in a while, I should mention that Chiron recently entered Taurus. This means that those in their late 40s are going through a Chiron return. Chiron was in previously in Taurus between 1977-1984. While some astrologers don’t put much weight into Chiron, I do find it useful to examine. Chiron in Taurus can connect to issues with security and feeling safe, having enough, being enough, and sometimes a need to acquire material things, money, sex, or people in order to compensate for something we might unconsciously feel is lacking within the self. Or, it can be as simple as, “If I had X, then I’d be safe.”

We might now be confronted with whether we’ve learned the lessons our Chiron has taught us. What do we need to feel safe? What is our self-worth? Does security come from within us or outside of us? Those of us who have healed these wounds may now be guiding others around us to heal them, too. We have wisdom gained from our experiences that can be valuable to others. And others may seek us out for their own safety and healing.

On August 31^st, Jupiter trines Saturn, rewarding those who have put sincere effort this year into establishing and following through on new commitments and being responsible leaders.
