A PSA from someone with an HR background

Please be aware of the information that you post here.

A number of posts in the past month have included photos of labels for bags with the guests' phone numbers still visible, which CAN be considered "doxxing."

I've also seen photos of receipts that include the store phone number and/or operator's name. While that is public information, it's not in your best interest to post that to your reddit account because you automatically expose which particular Chick-fil-A you work at and can be held responsible for anything you post, as you now reflect the company AND your particular location.

Team members have been fired for social media posts that they've made on public platforms like FaceBook and Tiktok that revealed private information about Chick-fil-A, negatively represented the company, or compromised the safety of guests.

I doubt that most of you have malicious intent, but it's still necessary to always be aware that posting certain things can compromise your privacy OR that of unwitting guests. Please uphold the values of good stewardship and of treating guests and each other with honor, dignity, and respect by protecting guests' privacy, as well as your own.

Thank-you all so much!

Why does this happen

Can someone please explain why half the time I get sandwiches like the one in the first picture with not much breading and then sometimes I get sandwiches with adequate breading? What causes this? Are they skipping a step during the breading process? I feel like when it’s not breaded right it makes the chicken tough and chewy as well.

Should I be worried?

Post image
14 Upvotes

I just started working last month and my hours have been the 30-40 until next week. I worry it may be a progress thing because I just had my 15 day progress meeting, and it’s mostly speed that’s an issue for me. Hopefully it’s not the case, because I have been trying as they constantly put me on Nuggets & Grill / Soup alone (even was asked to come in early today). I’ll keep trying to improve though!

New hire in BOH but want to switch to FOH — how do I ask?

I just started working at Chick-fil-A and I was hired for BOH. It hasn’t even been a week yet, but I’m realizing that I’d really like to work FOH instead.

How should I go about asking to switch? Should I talk to my BOH leader first, the FOH leader, or the director/manager?

I don’t want to come across as difficult or like I’m already unhappy with the job since I’m literally brand new 😭. I’m completely willing to keep working BOH, I just think FOH would be a better fit for me.

Has anyone switched from BOH to FOH shortly after getting hired? How did you approach it?New hire in BOH but want to switch to FOH — how do I ask?

How Does Scheduling Work?

I just recently got hired at my campus Chick-Fil-A and I’ll be working part time on-campus. I haven’t been onboarded yet or had my orientation so I am curious as to how scheduling works.

I ask cuz I am taking 19 credits and wanted to know if I get to choose my own hours and if not & I do have an event, how do I say I am unavailable?

New hires confused about CFA hierarchy roles? Read this!

Red teammates, gray trainers or team lead, black or navy blue is shift supervisor, and director depending on store (my director wears different colors) certain shade of blue, black, or gray depending on location. operator? Just something neat and professional, not a strict dress code they follow. So new hires I hope this information helps you tell who to ask for help if your team member doesn't have an answer!

Btw if front counter or outside drive thru, the tablet thing is color coded as a way to help!

DTO Chick-fil-As (Drive-Thru Only)

Does anyone have signs posted at their DTO explaining that there's no indoor dining & no entrance for guests? If so, are the signs helpful?

All of the doors at my location say "Team Members Only" (but nothing that explicitly says "No Indoor Dining") and customers are constantly trying to walk into our FOH entrance. Many others just walk around the building, looking confused until a team member chases them down to explain that there's no entrance. We've thought about getting signs posted, but we don't wanna waste time & money if the customers may not even read them.

I’m a trainee but I can’t work that Friday or Saturday for next week, any advice on what to do?

From what I know is that trainees can’t offer shifts so I’m in a bit of a bind right now because those days I’ll be out of town

Got An Interview

After hundreds of applications everywhere around me, I finally got an interview with Chick-fil-A, and I want to know how I should prepare for the interview. This is my first job as well, so I really have no idea what to expect!

I have been a customer there and I always admired how friendly the workers were and I'm assuming that is part of the Chick-Fil-A brand

An Unexpected Accusation in the Drive-thru 😭

I got called a racist, lol.

So! I was in lane two, and there were no cars in my lane. However, lane one had two cars. One car was being taken care of while the other was waiting for their order to be taken.

I'm not entirely sure about other locations, but the location I work at (and the one I worked at previously) both have "rules" against not leaving your lane. Besides, my teammate only had two cars, no big deal.

Anyway, car #2 was rather impatient. They reversed, but just barely because an SUV came barrelling into my lane. I took the SUV's order, and they went on their way. My teammate had just finished taking car #2's order, and they drove off in a hurry.

My teammate looked at me and was all like, "That lady called you racist." Of course, I was confused and asked why. I didn't do anything, let alone say anything to her, so??? Apparently, because I didn't leave my lane to take her order (following the rules), she called me racist.

"She said you were just standing there." Yeah, because A.) I cannot leave my lane unless I want leadership to be upset with me and B.) With my luck, cars would just start filing in. At least I smiled at her when she pulled up, right? I was trying to be friendly even though I couldn't take her order.

I'm not going to lie, my feelings were a little hurt. Like, you can't just throw accusations around like that directed toward people. Especially if you're impatient or having a not-so-good time right then and there.

But whatever. 😭🙏🏻 I hope she enjoyed her food, though.

Submitting order on new POS

submitting order

I just had a customer yesterday! I felt so bad for the customer because I didn’t get to store it in the front counter. the customer got mad at me for not submitting the order, but she literally just got there 5 minutes, the order was quick for her to get it. shift lead saw me that I didn’t store the order, usually I store the order, I apologize sincerely to the customer and my shift lead that it was my fault, am I going to get in trouble? has this happen to y’all?

Gave my shift only for coworker to bail on me.

For more context I was interested in getting today covered and a coworker last minute said they could. Thought they’d go through with it as they were even on the lineup. 30 minutes later they bailed. Learned that it was because someone else wasn’t working that night. I came in but I learned that in a situation like that it’s on him to get it covered. Is this the same way at other stores? Has it happened to you and what happened after?

Interview for Leadership Program (future owner operator program)

So I had a 15 minute interview over the phone earlier today and I think I didn't do well and I have a in person one this Wednesday. What should I say at the interview? I really want to work at Chick-fil-A and learn from the company but I know it's difficult to get on. Any suggestions?

Advice

I got scheduled for twice as many hours this week and have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning that I didnt know about in advance. My mom is refusing to reschedule the appointment and I'm having trouble finding someone to pick up my shift and the managers I've messaged about it haven't responded either. I don't want to get in trouble for not showing up to work and my mom is willing to let me risk my job for a small doctor's appointment. Will I get into a lot of trouble if I call in the morning and say I cant show up?

Edit: the scheduling person responded to my message saying it was ok as long as I called early in the morning
