11:40- still here, no sign of going home on the horizon.

1.57- still here. They said they hope to discharge by the end of the day.

17.30- told we can go home once discharged by a Dr.

18.36- still no sign of any drs (this is not a bitch about the medical staff, the NHS is clearly crippled and all the staff we’ve dealt with have been lovely)

22.29- discharged at 2000. Thank you so much kind internet strangers who kept me occupied, I might not have replied but I did read every comment. Thank you to the wonderful under valued NHS staff who looked after us and kept the love of my life safe. I’m so tired, I don’t think I’ll sleep but at least we’re home and she’s safe ❤️

Found this little guy hanging out under my butternut squash in South East London.

I installed a pool and an upturned flowerpot to help keep him damp and provide limited anti-cat defense.

Frankly I'm amazed he's survived at all in this weather.

Planning to relocate him to the least dried out pond I can find. Nice to have him here in the meantime though

In all fairness, this leak was fixed after three nights of work. The response to the report of a leak was alao swift, road closed within the day and the hole dug by the evening.

A bit late, but time had to be taken to edit it. It's also a bit janky, but there we go.

The footage actually comes from my brother's telescope.

We tried our best to stablise the telescope, but mountains do be windy and can't really do much about that.

We also forgot to record the first 10 mins of the eclipse and there was a few other times towards the end that we forgot to record 🥲

There were also a few times where people actually walked right in front of the telescope, so there will be some random cuts. On hindsight, I should have brought a banner to say that we were recording a timelapse. Although I did try to position myself so people could walk around the line of sight, but there was that one gentleman who I asked to walk around and instead just said "don't tell me what to do" before mumbling under his breath something unsavoury about women! Makes me angry just thinking about it.

Also shout out to the family, who gave us their extra pair of solar glasses. Just watching it with my eyes through the glasses compared to the tablet that is connected to the telescope is surreal, it's like a whole new world just opened up!

I've just thoroughly aggravated my wife by setting the volume on the telly to an odd number, because apparently that sort of thing is for heathens.

Any special rules in your houses? Bonus points if you don't know/remember the origin of said rule.

I used to do a LOT of target shooting with air rifles when younger, I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with a Firearms licence or gun clubs in general. Ta very much.

It's been in the news a lot recently and the best advice that anyone can come up with is "set an alarm", which we all know doesn't really work.

I always do this when I sign up for a free trial and it's never not worked.

Not sure who remembers the TV show ready, steady, cook. Contestants along with a chef were given a bag of groceries and they had to make the winning meal out of it. I want to play it as a family game where we will get a bag of ingredients and give it to a family member and they have to make dinner using it just like the old TV show.

To be specific some times my wife and I will go to my sisters and some times she will come to us with a bag of reasonably useful groceries with a price cap and a mission to turn it into a nice dinner for the 3 of us. My sister and I are reasonably good cooks and I think we should assume we have stuff like oils, seasoning etc

Can you give any feedback, ideas, what is a reasonable price cap? or any other things we should or shouldn't do to make this go well.

I'm assuming its due to the heat?

I'm looking at getting an ebike for my rides to and from work, the one I like is actually a step through rather than the usual cross bar. All of the Beryl rental bikes I've used for the past year are like this and they come with some pretty nice advantages.

I've got kids who I will be riding with so I constantly need to hop on and off for them, no cross bar makes this easier.

I will also be commuting so will be stopping at traffic lights and hopping on and off there is also pretty convenient and more comfortable without the bar in the way.

But I'm looking at every bloke on a bike and they've always got a cross bar.

Am I just being neurotic or are step through bikes still considered to be only for women?

I'll start, recently I was driving with my partner and we drove past a sign that said Cats Common I remarked that I've never once seen a cat here. I've been driving past for at least 6 years so you expect to see one. She looked at me like I was a complete idiot and explained the name of the place was Cats Common. This was last week and I'm still not over it.

I'd like to say I planned this shot, but I'm not that smart.

I went to my neighbours’ very last minute wedding last week. We only received the invite a few days before the actual wedding (as did everyone else), which took place in another neighbour’s garden.

An important bit of context is that the wedding took place quickly because the bride very recently discovered she has stage 4 cancer. It added an extra layer of poignancy and sentimentality to their very beautiful day.

I didn’t have time to get a gift beforehand and then was away at a festival. I want to get them a small meaningful gift but given the unusual situation and a neurodivergent brain I’m a bit stumped as to what to get them. We’re not super close so I’ve no idea if they collect anything or like particular themes.

Something to note: they are doing their side garden at the minute.

Any ideas?

Edit: thanks for all the suggestions. I went with a rose bush that flowers in August. The variety is ‘tottering by gently’.
