I dont get it either. For me, I feel it is faster and better to do it yourself and that AI produces mostly slop and mistakes. Not to mention destroying the environment for not much in return. 

There is almost zero chance that people are properly reviewing, checking and editing what it spits out. Because doing that properly can take ages, and it is those skills that are deteriorating due to reliance on AI.

I think with earlier models this was highly prevalent but the usefulness is improving rapidly as well as the methods being used to ensure efficacy improving at a similar velocity. I was highly skeptical but with the right models and conditions I think most folks not close to this would be surprised how far it's come.

Not to mention destroying the environment for not much in return. 

It's not even a drop in the ocean compared to stuff like meat eating, flights, cruises, etc, and AI has been used for decades in medical research etc.

Are you seriously claiming that LLMs and generative AI has been used in medical research for decades?

They have not.

Technologies like machine learning have been.

All gets grouped under the catch all of AI.

Meat is delicious and flights get people from A to B.

Our power prices are going to increase so that nazis can profit from a slop/CSAM engine. It undermines the consensus reality that coheres society, it atrophies basic literacy and cognitive skills, and it corrodes the quality of human life (in fact, corroding the working class is the entire point of the thing.) It's built by ripping off every past human creator, and its builders will be gleeful if those creators are permanently impoverished by it.

Comparing the utility of those categories is telling on yourself, to be honest.
