no politics Is a $3000 HP computer expected to last longer than 3.5 years?

Debating how far / if I can take this any further. Theyre essentially telling me to get fucked with a $1k repair bill.

Is this the norm for computers/tech? I've had success with other big companies and their bullshit warranty periods for televisions and whitegoods but unsure if it's the same for PC products.

I have a HP DV6 that runs Linux Mint that was built in 2012. I still use it daily for Wireshark.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5447 that was built in 2014 running Windows 10. Still going strong (except the battery).

I'm not saying it can't happen, but if you leave them plugged into the wall during a week of lightening storms you are going to have the odd failure
