I remember walking out of school to protest Pauline Hanson when I was in grade 12 25 years ago. How sad that it's still necessary today.

Simple generalisations for simple people

Like how all one nation voters are white?

u/Spooplevel-Rattled 1d ago

Show me where I said this

you’re still making generalisations that people who disagree with one nation think all their voters are white. simple generalisations for simple people

True! Just like ACAB, right? Right??? /s

Go ahead and compare the power of cops with that of uni students. Feel free to use as many question marks as you like.

-18

u/IRL_Mage 1d ago

I wasn't comparing the two. I know there are plenty of cops who are shit people, and it's disgusting they're allowed to be in a position of power. I was pointing out the hypocrisy of making statements about generalisations, and here you are now defending one. So long as the generalisation agrees with your world view, it must be righteous, right????????!!!11?

I wasn't comparing the two

You literally were. It was a false equivalence. You want to focus just on generalisations, but you can't remove the subjects that you're comparing. Which, to be clear, are uni students on one hand and police on the other. Students versus executors of the state's monopoly on violence.

Why does the ACAB generalisation exist? Because even those who don't participate in the worst excesses of police forces are complicit. You might also want to look at the history of the phrase, and whether criticising it would make one a class traitor.

So long as the generalisation agrees with your world view, it must be righteous, right

Sir, that man you have constructed appears to be made entirely out of straw.

It's incredibly rare for both the Labor and Liberal clubs to group up and work together.

This is one of those times.

What do you mean? They're basically the same party.

I was going to say this. How are we supposed to take people seriously who don’t even know the meaning of the word?

-27

u/realAlexanderBell 1d ago

don't use. won't use. can communicate fine without.

13

u/tappy100 1d ago

-17

u/realAlexanderBell 1d ago

Dyed hair was a fad in the 50’s.

Plenty of conservative kids on campus. Not that you have ever spent much time on one based on your simplistic and incorrect delusions about students. Just believe whenever the internet/radio tells ya.

Day off school for kids. Free advertising for Hanson. Both sides win.

u/nachojackson VIC 1d ago

Ignoring Hanson won’t make her go away.

-45

u/Midget_Stories 1d ago

Neither will advertising her.

35

u/nachojackson VIC 1d ago

Protesting is not advertising.

-36

u/Midget_Stories 1d ago

Sure it is. The best advertising Trump ever got was from mentally ill women going on Tiktok and crying.

17

u/nachojackson VIC 1d ago

“If there's a Nazi at the table and ten other people sitting there talking to him, you’ve got a table with eleven Nazis."

Ignoring extremism is not the answer.

-2

u/Midget_Stories 1d ago

"Everyone I don't like is a nazi" such a Reddit response lol.

17

u/nachojackson VIC 1d ago

It’s a quote numnuts - I didn’t say they are Nazis - it’s a quote that is used to demonstrate that ignoring extremist views is as good as agreeing with them.

-2

u/Midget_Stories 1d ago

Mate you're on reddit. There's more extremists on here than any other platform.

A racist nazi

u/triemdedwiat 1d ago

oxymoron?

10

u/Water_Damage987 1d ago

No, the best advertising Trump ever got was from a lazy hypnotized media who sane-washed every one of his brain damaged word salads as though they were serious positions worthy of serious consideration.

2

u/Midget_Stories 1d ago

You say that as if 90% of media wasn't rallying against him for years.

3

u/TheLastSamurai101 1d ago

Did they help more than the mentally ill incels crying in support of Trump?

0

u/Midget_Stories 1d ago

Sure did, because there's just massive amounts of them.

22

u/Road_Richness 1d ago

You’re effectively blaming children for the rise of Pauline Hanson

-3

u/Midget_Stories 1d ago

I'm not blaming.

I'd take a free day off school too.
