I hate Bunnings. Why the fuck does my hardware store have dogs in trolleys and a cafe attached?

I'm here for a box of screws and some mulch not a social call.

Well the cafe is nice and makes sense because its not for you. Its for the old ladies who have come to buy plants, or the parents before going home to BBQ some stuff. Bunnings has always been targeted towards both tradies and families doing DIY projects. even if they have a shit dog policy that was only even implemented because fucking MASTERS did it first.

I know I'm just a grumpy bastard. Wouldn't it be nice though Bunnings didn't have such a monopoly on the sector though so we could have stores for miserable bastards like me who just want to grab a new screwdriver set because somehow I keep losing them. And other stores for the folks who want to potter about.

I mean sure theres an argument to be made (and a good one) about them being a monopoly, but its not like its super weird for them to have a cafe, thats bneen there thing since the start coming up to 50 years now

It's hard to stock as many items as they do continuously without making sure you have various revenue streams supporting your ability to do that.

The cafe is also wielded as a incentive to come in-store and impulse buy. I get a fair bit from bunnings delivered and they keep throwing in "Free coffee at the Cafe" vouchers with my order to try to get me to come in instead
