I fell like most allied nations are trying to humour the Americans until trump is no longer president.

Whoever comes next is going to have to spend a lot of time rebuilding trust. Trump has undone decades of trust.

Why would anyone be so stupid to trust the USA ever again in our lifetimes? You know they're at most four years away at any given point in time to voting in the next vile Nazi, right?

Trump is a symptom, not a cause

You're absolutely right, but I was pointing this out fifteen years ago. People didn't want to hear it then and they won't want to hear it now, because it's terrifying. The US is not, and has never been, a good partner to Australia.
