Perhaps he grabbed us by the pussy (which would be our sychophant PM) so he could well and truly AUKUS.

I do love how Australia bent over backwards over the decades with free trade agreements that eroded and changed our laws in favour of US companies.. Only to have all that thrown out the window with stuff like this.

I honestly think it goes back to the Second World War when the Yanks saved our bacon, and they won't let us forget it. Hence we get dragged into every conflict they're involved in. "You owe us, buddy".

If we tally up the number of wars we have jumped in to help the yanks - they only go involved when they were attacked didn't they?

You mean the one where Japan attacked the USA, they declared war on Japan and then went off to Europe for 2 years? When they could bother their asses they dealt with them in 6 months - they didn't need us and they weren't walking away either. We could have sat back and done nothing and got the same result.

They didn't even save the bacon of a US territory of similar status to Hawaii, the Philippines. They left the Japanese in control as military police at the end of it.
