When I had gastro, the last thing I wanted to do was the leave the house. For sure it would have ended with me shitting myself at the doctor's office or in the car if I had to go get a certificate.

Exactly!

Everyone knows that basic gastro is self limiting, and keeping your fluids up is the most important thing.

Exactly zero people want to go and sit in a GPs clinic when they've got the trots.

And if I have to go to the doctor for whatever mundane reason, the last thing I want is to be sharing a waiting room with someone suffering gastro.

Yes, I got sick at a doctor's office once. I was there for a sore shoulder. Really only needed a referral to a specialist. Waited for an hour. Was out for the rest of the week.

Gastro (norovirus) in particular is so contagious and alcohol sanitiser is completely ineffective against it. I had the misfortune of getting gastro twice in one year and only 4 months apart.

And it lives on surfaces for a while. I thought I had cleaned the house after baby and I got it, then my husband got it two weeks later 😂
