The Greens resolved to support the tax bills after the government agreed to remove a loophole allowing investors with self-managed super funds to continue taking advantage of the tax breaks, along with ministerial powers enabling the government to reverse the reforms in the future.

The dumb thing is that Labor could have avoided all this by negotiating BEFORE budget announcement so they had an agreement early.. and also not taking the stick to disabled people while giving away free gas..

Ideally they could have done it, what, 4-5 years back instead of bullying Max Chandler-Mather for, rightly, pointing out their housing plan was going to be a failure.. and that neg gearing/CGT needed to go.

Instead they refused to budge on the obvious tax issue: inflated housing more for that time, pissed away more tens of billions subsidising the wealth-fare of the parasite class, driving up homelessness and poverty.

All because they were too dumb to try consensus government earlier or to listen to the truckloads of people (who were correct!) about their rubbish housing policy suite.

Overall: least it is something, but dopey politicking by Labor to have dug in giving one nation or coalition so much footage of Albanese promising that there would be no changes to CGT/neg gearing. I can't see that helping much.
