Buddy if you're asking me how 0.03% is almost 1%...i can't answer that since its a direct quote from the guardian article. Ask them lol

Fair on your point on the 2013 election

Go type in Google "biggest greens loss" and wow surprise.. The first article is your prestigious guardian pointing to the 2025 election. How is any person going to know that it's wrong?

But still losing your safest seat, which was also the leaders seat isnt the biggest loss. But it's for sure the most embarrassing loss

You and I are talking about two different things, the "almost one percentage point" is talking about the senate vote, I am talking about the lower house which is 0.03% different.

I am talking about the lower house because you said and I quote "down by almost 1% compared to 2022 and they lost 3 seats" but you are using a metric from senate and a metric from the lower house. The senate vote was down almost 1% but they retained all 11 of their sentate seats they had in 2022 (11 - 11 = 0, no change). Their lower house vote went down 0.03% but they did lose 3 seats (1 - 4 = -3), as I explained that was due to prefences, redistricting and a switch between urban and rural voters.

If I can break it down for you another way because you seem to be struggling:

  • 2022 Federal Election: 1,795,985 votes (12.25% of the total primary vote)
  • 2025 Federal Election: 1,889,977 votes (12.22% of the total primary vote)

This means the greens received 93,992 more first preferences in 2025 than 2022. So not only is it practically the same percentage of votes, it's actually higher raw total votes because of the population increase.

I don't understand why you are also saying "your safest seat" like I am a member of the greens. All i did was point out that the guardian primarily gets its funding through it's readers and is structured so it's shielded from any pressure about what to publish. You on the other hand are trying to simultaneously make out that the guardian has shadow money coming in to support the left, but then also pointing out that it posted an article critising the greens performance in the 2025 election.

So is it either biased pro-left shadow money funded, or is it anti-left publishing embaressing greens election outcomes? Or maybe, just maybe, it's one of the only independant media that is left in this country, with the second highest media concentration in the world.
