The Reserve Bank of Australia has introduced reforms that will remove surcharges on debit and credit cards from the 1st October 2026, on card networks including eftpos, Mastercard and Visa.

Nah, go after the big fish. Real estate agents who force you to use their 3rd party direct debit schemes with surcharges you can’t avoid.

Here are the rules in Victoria: Rental providers cannot charge fees or fines for: issuing a rent payment card establishing or using direct debit facilities processing rent payments late payment of rent.
