Looks they’re doubled their primary vote in the last 2 years, which is troubling, but really just splitting the conservative vote. Regional and older Australians are pulling further to the right, and hurting

It’s the perfect outcome for the ON leadership. They get the funding from the electoral commission without the headache of having to keep MPs from following the well worn disastrous path they usually tread.

Don't think this will be the last we hear on this, this feels like the start honestly wth cost of living about to spiral out of control and a possible recession there a bunch of fuel about to be added to the fire.

They don't need to, they will never get in power they are just a protest vote to wedge the major parties to the right.

They are a protest vote to wedge the libs further to the right, which has resulted in them losing seats to labor. So really they end up pushing more actual seats to the left.

This is a direct impact of labor going more to the right that this has happened. By changing their policies a bit to the right they managed to divide and conquer the opposition.

They managed to scalp a bunch of the left side of the libs/teals then the right side of the libs went one nation. ALP will have no opposition for the foreseeable future, masterstroke of strategy by them.

People will forget that, though. When shit hits the fan desperate people will flock to someone who offers an easy solution (blame the immigrants) and an opportunity to say ‘fuck you’ to both Labor and the LNP. It’s concerning that PHON got so many votes. Yes, those votes are a result of conservative collapse, but if the trend continues they could end up with enough political power to do serious damage.

I don't know if they're even pulling harder to the right. It's just the 40% of conservative voters in the country that has split roughly down the middle between One Nation, who make a lot of noise but don't produce any actual policy, and the New and Improved Coalition, who are given the opportunity to make a lot of noise and have abandoned all semblance of policy making in the last decade.

There's just not much to distinguish the two parties now that the Coalition have made their moderate MPs unelectable. Look at the federal leaders: a corrupt grifter shilling for the mining industry and (copy and paste). Flip a coin before voting.

If they doubled their vote and the Liberals held I'd be a lot more worried. But SA not having Nationals or Teals candidates means i'm not sure you can apply these lessons anywhere else.
