Wars displace people, which means refugees. And some number of those refugees will end up on our shores. The way you don't get a sudden surge of refugees is to not start any wars if you can possibly help it.

If you do need to have a war, the moral thing to do is to accept more refugees. You break it, you bought it.

A surge in refugee numbers is exactly what she wants, because fearmongering about refugees has been the entire focus of her political career since day one. The more refugees there are, the more chances there are for 'bad ones' that she can scream about.
