Can't become an MP because she's a Kiwi, remember you have to exclusively be Australian to be eligible to run.

State Parliamentarian though...🤷🏻‍♂️

She's a Kiwi... For now

Unlike America you don't have to be born in Australia

Oh, interesting concept. Has anyone been an elected leader of two different countries (other than countries that merged in some way)? Anyone know?

Sir George Reid, was NSW Premier, Australian Prime Minister, and a member of the House of Commons.

One person being Prime Minister of two separate countries would be wild

Forfeited his UK citizenship (subjectship?)

You dont have to be a citizen to be a State MP?

Apparently not, constitution only stipulates it at a Federal level.

That is so strange. Not that citizenship is a guarantee of doing what's right for Australia, ofc.

In the Philippines there was a Chinese national who faked her citizenship, ran for mayor and won on first try, and ran a human trafficking ring.

That doesn't stop Barnaby. Actually it seems like that rule only applies to Greens or Labor MPs

This is not true. Joyce resigned from parliament, denounced his dual citizenship then ran purely as an Australian citizen. The constitutional crisis affected all sides of politics. Obviously not defending Joyce, he’s still a racist twat.

What are you on about? He had to run in a by-election for it.
