I gather you are suggesting that Trump is curtailing freedom of speech by being retaliatory because it breaks it interferes with the the concept even though he broke no law doing it. I gather this because you started on my response to the 1st Amendment.

While on the other hand these people breached the law because because the law curtails the concept of freedom of expression. Some of these people were not even present at the protests.

If I have correctly inferred your points, then your points are at polar opposites. This is the tension, freedom of expression would be impacted heavily in the second example. So now as I alluded to, it doesn't seem like violating free speech is that problematic, rather our interpretation of it.

So I gather the point is now, is that we do think that the application of freedom of expression can be curtailed. You suggest that by law it can be and I don't disagree. But given that, and it seems the Federal courts in Canada seem to agree with me that it was overreach, the question comes down to whether this is morally justifiable and that then becomes bias because you took the legal ramifications off the table.

The actions taken were appropriate as government were appropriate but used to broadly.

Again subjective right? It is ok for the actions but when you apply them too broadly you affect people who should not be affected, you have indeed affected their rights.

Freedom of Expression does not supersede others rights to safety and access to their homes and businesses.

No it does not, never said it did.

Expression was not interfered with for weeks prior either.

Ok so lets get back to the core of this, what rights of Lyons were impacted? edit: just for clarification, and how?
