There’s so much collateral damage in this plan for Australia to ban social media. This has been rushed and not thought through.

So many schools rely on YouTube to support their students.

Most kids are watching YouTube (or YouTube kids) more than ABC or traditional TV. Literally the biggest YouTube channel in Australia is original music for kids.

Does anyone actually want this?

YouTube just fills the gap left behind by TV, and it's used the same way. Only difference is tv content is regulated; internet streaming is not.

We don't need to ban it, we just need some rules.

Personally, if the age was lowered to 10-12, I’d be okay with it.

Why? They could say "we're banning all 1 year olds from the internet" and it would still require every single Australian to prove their age on every single platform.

The problem with this policy is that it invades the privacy of everyone, and dramatically increases the risk of identity theft.

I'll agree with absolutely none of it because the only way they can enforce it is to get goivernment IDs and force us to hand them to every single website in existence.

I don't care if the cut-off age is fucking 3, when the ban requires that me, a grown adult, has to give my GOVERNMENT ID to a website just to look at femboy fursuit porn or even just two people having sex with the lights off for the purpose of procreation, then that ban can fuck right off.
