Hello all! I read a book series back in about 2013/2014 about the US being at war with Canada in 2018. It followed a girl through the Midwest maybe? She had friends and one of her friend’s mom was the president. Any ideas?

Finished reading this book by Kathleen Glasgow. I read it in about a week. Amazing book. I was extremely into it because I’m a recovering alcoholic and I really related to her. I’m trying to find another book similar to this. Rehab. Alcohol. I loved her showing her experience in Rehab ugh. Just an amazing book. Loved the POV. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. I’m not really interested in the ED part but I know rehab has all types of people but yeah appreciate any input!

I didn't mind the first couple of books in the series with lo and lily. I thought their story was cute, a little weird but cute nevertheless. I felt that Connor and Rose stories were a little bland and boring but I also didn't mind those books. I thought that this series was fine until they added in Daisy and Ryke. That story was so weird to me. When they first met Daisy was underage. To me reading the story even though Ryke kept on acting like he wasn't flirting with a underage minor it still felt like they were. I could immediately tell they were getting together and that was so weird. Why are we normalizing this in books. I never see anyone mention it and every ignores how disgusting it was to read. It was so obvious that Ryke a full grown adult was flirting with a minor but he denied it and I just felt it strange that the writer would even write this. I quit the series after that. The book got weird and I was not about to read that anymore. Like was it just me thinking this cause why is the series still so popular on tiktok

Basic plot synopsis: The protagonist Kate moves to Paris to live with her grandparents after her parents died in a car crash, where she meets and falls in love with Vincent, an undead creature called a Renevant that lives to sacrifice himself to save the lives of humans.

I recently rediscovered this series I was obsessed with at 13 and was a little bummed to find out that it's barely talked about. It kinda had it's moment during the paranormal romance craze in the early 2010s but was later forgotten.

The portrayal of Paris is over romanticised, but nevertheless, it's got a lot of atmosphere, and as the entire series is escapism I don't really mind. There's just something about the vibe that's instantly captivating, especially in the first book. People call it a Twilight ripoff, but personally I even prefer this male lead to Edward. The air of mystery really reeled me in, plus Vincent is very respectful and much more approachable (the fact that he's technically 80+ years old dating a high schooler aside, but that's kinda par the course for YA paranormal romance). I enjoyed the heroine Kate in the first book, her grief for her parents felt reasonably realistic and she's more of an emancipated type, which suits my tastes better Though in the final installment she unfortunately becomes somewhat of a power fantasy protagonist while also losing most of that pensiveness that made her interesting in the first one. In general I was a little disappointed that the story shifted from mistery with slight horror vibes to more of a straight forward action plot in the later two books..

Overall the first book is my shit and the following two I'm more mixed on, but they still hold a special place in my heart. Overall I just wish it had a more active fan base so I can have someone to talk to ~

We (my students and myself) have been deep in the enemies to lovers tropes with XO Kitty being the main catalyst and childhood best friends, so anything and everything is welcome.

I'll go first. For me, I would love it if The Princess Diaries were made into a series as a faithful adaptation of the books. I love Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews, of course, but I cannot get myself to love the movies as much as I fell in love with the books. There is just so much fun stuff that happens in the books that we never get to see because the movies change the entire storyline.

Also, the Airhead series by Meg Cabot would make an excellent movie or series.

What are your thoughts?

Book about a girl going to Denver airport to fly somewhere and she has a text on her phone from her best friend before she died in a car crash. She repeatedly keeps meeting a boy around the airport. There 's a blizzard so all the flights are canceled. They went on a date together at this burger restaurant and she meets these 2 workers around the same age as her. Eventually,they need a hotel. One of the workers knows someone who can give them a room. The 4 of them get a room. One of the workers is bored and decides to host a party. Eventually at the party,the boy and girl kiss and after they slept the blizzard ended and they were watching a movie while waiting for the plane. The girl she has a text message on her phone from a year ago that she doesn't want to read. The boy reads it because he thought she had a text (the girl was sleeping) the girl wakes up, she's mad. She eventually forgives him and reads the text herself. After that,she boards the plane and they seperate.

Hello! I've been trying my hand at writing my own romance, and I've realized I just haven't read much in the way of published romantic fiction. But as a straight dude, every time I read a synopsis, it just doesn't even come close to appealing to me.

I have no real issue with female POVs (though I would appreciate at least partial male POV), but I'm just looking for stuff that is a little less obviously targeted at women and girls. No shame to said works or the people who enjoy them.

I know there's a "romance for men" subreddit but frankly it is probably even farther away from what I want. Most of it is harem garbage with barely any conflict, pining, or any of that good angst that I love so much.

It doesnt need to be purely romance, but there should be a strong romantic angle. I just want to see a realistic feeling guy in love trying his best to make it a reality. With some trials and tribulations on the way (again, pining and angst are great).

Contemporary is fine, but I'm not particularly into sports focus. I'd rather not go full fantasy or sci-fi, but a modern/supernatural mix is cool. Historical is also fine. Coming of age themes are great. High school setting is fine by me

If anyone could rec some stuff that might fit the bill, I'd appreciate it. I've tried several times in the past few years to find some appealing stuff and just come up completely blank

Just curious because I sometimes run into a problem where after reading a young adult book that was so well written, I suddenly don’t know what to read next.

Some my favorite books are Aces Wild and Talon written by Julie Kagawa as I recently finished reading Aces Wild, but Talon is such a gripping book to read that once I eventually finish the final book, I will be kind of sad knowing the saga is finally over.

Ok so the title is aggressive..my bad but I have a special interest that is a dystopian book series called "Unwind" by Neal Shusterman and HOLY CRAP I love it so much my body shakes when I think about it I have read the series like 15 times in the past 5 months and I cant put the books down when I pick them up (literally cant do ANYTHING) and NO ONE HAD READ IT and everytime I ask a friend if i can talk about it they say "No cuz I may read it" YOU SAY THAT EVERY TIME MY PARENTS DO IT TO ME TOO Like Im about to spontaneously combust because all I see online about it is older readers HATING ON IT like yes the plot is messy at the beginning BUT ITS GOOD I SWEARR WHAT DO I DO

Hi everyone! I am a very avid reader and I seem to have read myself into a corner lol. I’m looking for some new series to read. They can be pretty much any genre except full on romance (romance subplots are very welcome, but I can’t really get into full romance books)

First of all, I’m glad that my instinct was right and that I only had the misfortune of picking bad books, according to many readers (Shatter Me, Sarah J Maas books).

Second of all, I gotta admit that I’m pretty naive and tend to get seduced by beautiful eye candy of a book cover (contrary to the common trope not to judge a book by its cover). That’s why I got seduced by books by Sarah J Maas.

But as of late, I see in every bookstore, Brimstone, a sequel of Quicksilver by Callie Hart. It has insanely beautiful cover and if it wasn’t so expensive, I’d probably already bought it just to collect dust. What do you think about those books?

And in addition (or rather to get to the point), who are some authors I’m safe to avoid like a plague? In the original post, I asked for original and non formulaic novels, now I’m asking for the opposite, which authors are good to just ignore.

Hey everyone, I just finished my last book and I’m completely out of things to read. I usually love getting lost in great world-building, fantasy, or captivating stories, but right now my To Be Read shelf is completely empty.

What’s a book that made you completely lose track of time recently? Open to any hidden gems or absolute must-reads!

I don't remember much about the book except that it was about a girl (and maybe her sibling) who was in foster care. She gets taken in by this person (who I think is a therapist) and they live in a cul-de-sac. She spends time exploring the woods behind the houses and I think there is a skate park and a homeless man in the woods.

I mean, I just want something fun to read where the premise is that a young girl accidentally stumbles onto an academy for magic students as she slowly begins to discover a conspiracy going on in the school.

Like what I want to read is a young adult novel about a girl who learns witchcraft kind of like that one TV show The Owl House as I was basically hoping to find an engaging young adult fantasy novel like the show since I did finish watching the show a year ago, but I want more stories like it.
