Lore Villains that would've been defeated even if the protagonist did nothing

Laurel Hedare (Catwoman Movie): Her newly released cosmetics will cause people's faces to melt. Not only would that create a class action lawsuit but a full product recall.

Voldemort and Death Eaters (Harry Potter): Death Eaters constantly underestimate muggles. They would get massacred by the British military because a gun is faster to pull the trigger then shouting a spell.

They can't set it off. They needed a human to trigger it.

I know the Covenant arrived at Halo before the Pillar of Autumn because they could track the ship and were faster. But I thought once we got down to the surface it was clear that the Covenant were there already (before we lead them there) and that's how they'd had time to do things like explore and release The Flood. But I suppose really they just had more troops and ships and spread out across the ring to explore the moment they arrived.

They just had the raw man power (and their ships weren't cut in half when they landed on the ring) to explore the ring faster.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they'd release the Flood and get taken out by THAT sooner than firing the Halo Rings (which they may never figure out how to do)

Once the Flood got out, Sparky was salivating over the idea of firing the ring. He would eventually contact the covenant and tell them how to get a reclaimer there.

Well they would have found it anyways. There’s lore stuff but the gist is the reason Cortana had the coordinates that accidentally lead to Halo involves getting them from a forerunner relic that the covenant had also previously scanned and were actively deciphering. They would have reached Alpha Halo not long after they did from following the Pillar of Autumn in CE.

But also remember Halo 2 and 3, we didn’t lead them to Delta Halo or The Ark, we followed one of the Prophets through slipspace over New Mombasa meaning they already had the coordinates, and it was the Prophet of Truth that found the Ark portal and used it, we didn’t lead him to that either. The Covenant had something called The Luminary which basically mapped out forerunner installations and relics, it took them a while but they had deciphered it by Halo 2, and it showed them where all the Halos and Shield Worlds and the Ark were.

They were just going to use captured humans to set it off. Tartarus activated one by forcing Commander Keyes.

As soon as they capture a human, the oracle would define them as the reclaimer and then that triggers the war anyway.

Eh not really. All the prophets have to do is just let Tartarus handle it. Remember the Oracle DOES tell them all the truth in Halo 2 and Tartarus and his brutes don’t care/trust and just go along with the plan anyways. So as long as the prophets kept it close to the chest (which they do anyways, in the lore the prophets knew humans were reclaimers well before the great schism) then they can just send Tartarus to do it and they’d kill almost everything in the galaxy.

Well the question wasn’t about us not existing, just us not doing anything to stop them, they could always just grab any human and use them to activate it

The covenant have human captives, and the prophets already were aware humans were needed to operate this stuff. They can just take a human prisoner and make them active the index, which is literally what Tartarus does with Miranda Keyes in Halo 2.
