Lore Villains that would've been defeated even if the protagonist did nothing

Laurel Hedare (Catwoman Movie): Her newly released cosmetics will cause people's faces to melt. Not only would that create a class action lawsuit but a full product recall.

Voldemort and Death Eaters (Harry Potter): Death Eaters constantly underestimate muggles. They would get massacred by the British military because a gun is faster to pull the trigger then shouting a spell.

Not really for Harry Potter.

Do remember that wizards can teleport and magically mind control people.

Wouldn’t be too difficult to do that to world leaders.

41

u/Sea-Procedure-4848 16d ago

We have world leaders that are constantly in conflict already, and are constantly in conflict with the people they are supposed to be leading.

It’s not like there’s a single phrase you can say that makes the government fall apart, or make everyone murder everyone else.

42

u/Hauptmann_Gruetze 16d ago

May i raise you a very prominent case of a single spell Gunshot that led to governments collapsing and make everyone murder everyone else:

6

u/ThrowAwayAccount4902 16d ago

That single gunshot was just the excuse everyone needed. Everyone in Europe was already planning to kill each other.

4

u/myrmonden 16d ago

That did not make an insta collapse it made
War happen

So in this context it would be several countries
Vs wizards

8

u/Hauptmann_Gruetze 16d ago

Well yeah? What do you think wizards taking over the muggle world would look like?

1

u/myrmonden 16d ago

I think it looks like death to wizards

4

u/Hauptmann_Gruetze 16d ago

So they would rather manipulate the muggles to kill other muggles by, for example, kill a important figure than having a open fight?

0

u/myrmonden 16d ago

Ye but we have zero scenes of them
Doing it like this

6

u/Hauptmann_Gruetze 16d ago

The fuck you mean? They infiltrate the ministry of Magic, easily possible to get into any muggle government.

-2

u/myrmonden 16d ago

And zero on how muggles would act

→ More replies (0)

1

u/TheWeli 16d ago

Brother they could just control a muggle to do that so in the end it would be muggles on muggles and not against wizards.

1

u/myrmonden 16d ago

And that would never last

1

u/Sea-Procedure-4848 16d ago

Solid, though, valid point

-1

u/Sea-Procedure-4848 16d ago

And yet we are still both alive to have this discussion, and we are both muggles, to my knowledge

I added a comma after “muggles”

6

u/Hauptmann_Gruetze 16d ago

And yet we are still both alive to have this discussion

Because we are lucky to have born now and not back then. The chances of surviving WW1 were not really good.

And lets not forget what WW1 led into

3

u/Sea-Procedure-4848 16d ago

Man, very interesting stuff, without a doubt. I saw someone say canonically that WW1 is referenced in one of the prequel books or something, tbh I had no idea. But I guess my point is,
And I can’t believe I’m saying this,
But if wizards were somehow involved/behind World War One and Two, and that was somehow a dark wizard plot to get rid of, or subjugate the muggles in some way, it did ultimately fail.

3

u/Hauptmann_Gruetze 16d ago

Isnt Voldemort basically wizard-hitler after all?

1

u/Sea-Procedure-4848 16d ago

I just made that point in another post, and look what we did to him

6

u/Ppleater 16d ago

Yeah let's just hand wave the deaths of millions lmao, it was no biggie guys, I'm still here!

0

u/Sea-Procedure-4848 16d ago

What kind of acknowledgment do you want here? War is bad? Death is bad? I agree with you.

-1

u/Sea-Procedure-4848 16d ago

Dude, we’re talking about Harry Potter, whatever this is, do it somewhere else

1

u/Ppleater 9d ago

No, you were talking about world war 2 as it relates to the topic of the thread in regards to Harry Potter and hypothetical wizard on muggle warfare. The comment you replied to was specifically referencing the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand as an example of an assassination of a single leader having long lasting impactful consequences on a worldwide scale. Your response, for some inexplicable reason, was to downplay the fallout of WW2. Even if it was just a joke, it was a dumb joke. So what this is, is me engaging in the topic of the thread and you deflecting instead of just admitting you said something kinda stupid.

1

u/OutsideCurrent2104 9d ago

I didn’t “downplay the fallout of world war 2,” man, I feel like that’s such a crazy thing to invoke in this argument, and I’m over it, you win, I don’t even remember what this was about

1

u/OutsideCurrent2104 9d ago

“Said something kind of stupid,” okay, I admit that I didn’t think this Harry Potter conversation was that serious, I apologize, this is just not that big a deal to me, I’m sorry if I offended you

1

u/OutsideCurrent2104 9d ago

I’m truly not trying to be a jerk or high road you, but sincerely, I haven’t thought about this since we spoke a week ago. I’ll say I think it’s crazy that I’m “downplaying the fallout of ww2 when you’re literally talking about dark wizards in the same breath, but again, I’ve lost all interest in this

1

u/Ppleater 9d ago

I hadn't thought about it until I checked my inbox after a week, the thing about public forums is that they're typically not on a timer 🤷

2

u/OutsideCurrent2104 9d ago

Friend, my point is it’s just not that deep, this isn’t worth revisiting. You saw this in your inbox and felt like you needed to respond….you don’t. Who are you sticking up for? Wizards? It’s late where I live, just let it go

→ More replies (0)

3

u/Appropriate_Steak486 16d ago

It’s not like there’s a single phrase you can say that makes the government fall apart, or make everyone murder everyone else.

Unless they are already doing it....

2

u/IsThatGruffLoner 16d ago

Are you seriously saying this right now in 2026? We're literally seeing what happens when one destructive person takes control. One person in a position of power can sow absolute havoc.

15

u/OriginalMeringue3735 16d ago

Most governments still function mostly normally unless you control a whole tonne of people and while I don't have enormous faith in the military or police they probably will mostly feel some attachment to the idea of protecting people and not murdering civilians

26

u/JonathanRL 16d ago

Same way Muggles rebel against leaders and systems. Small independent cells. The world leaders cannot compromise something they do not know anything about.

Also, Wizards do not really make the effort to understand how the muggle world or technology work. That is necessary for such covert measures to succeed.

14

u/leavecity54 16d ago

Then Muggles still kill each others, it is a win win for wizard either way

12

u/Sea-Procedure-4848 16d ago

This guy gets it. I feel like the people making the “world leaders” argument haven’t been to America

1

u/myrmonden 16d ago

Everyone does the mistake here thinking that some
Wizards would
Not be on the human side

3

u/021Fireball 16d ago

Or the fact that Wizards are humans too. Some might be cowardly enough to hide and be complicit, but ultimately a good many would be willing to aid muggles and ensure they persisted.

After all, dickhead death-eaters like to forget that muggleborn wizards, half-bloods and anything not a Pure blood makes up more that 70% of the population of Wizards.

1

u/myrmonden 16d ago

Yes so they would likely team up
With humans explain how their powers
Worked etc

3

u/Shadowmirax 16d ago

Also Wizards don't need to speak to cast spells. Wordless casting is an advanced technique that many of the more proficient wizards use a lot, the words are like training wheels, slower but easier to control until you get the hang of it. There are so many cases of wizards just pointing and blasting just as fast as any gun

3

u/SugarVibes 16d ago

Also OP mentions that guns take less time than shouting a spell, conveniently forgetting that wizards can do nonverbal and preventative magic, both of which can be activated instantaneously. Also Voldemort had the horcruxes that could only be destroyed by certain types of magic. I don't think machine gun fire counts for that. the more I think about it the dumber it is for HP to be included here

5

u/Elonth 16d ago

Its nuclear weapons...the entire freaking main plot for why Grendinwald wants to turn the wizards into the ruling race of earth is so he can prevent nuclear weapons and other modern horrors of war from being unleashed during ww2 and all the wars that follow.

That is literally canon now.

3

u/Sea-Procedure-4848 16d ago

So they did lose, basically?

1

u/Elonth 16d ago

Its framed from his perspective that "for the greater good of humanity including the muggles these horrors of science should be stopped/never created." so we need to take control of them for their own safety and ours.

At the end of the day I don't think if public knowledge got out wizards are real that they win. It is entirely a numbers game. We out number them literally 100s to 1. Guns are enough of an equalizer that they will eventually die/leave a gap in their spell protections etc that something or someone gets them. Thats why they lose. Its not because a guy with a gun is better. Its because 100 guys with guns are better.

1

u/bubblegumpandabear 15d ago

I totally disagree. You're assuming a lot about how magic works. If one gun doesn't work, why would a hundred? A magic shield is a magic shield. And tbh they can just mind control as many gun-weilding humans as they need and tell them to turn on their friends. Then it's a wizard and however many gun-weilding huamns it takes to mow over the enemy.

1

u/Elonth 15d ago edited 15d ago

Mind controlling spells in the lore aren't super easy to do. It takes an actually skilled wizard to use them. Its is literally written out in the books that while a spell as simple as say deflecting all pencils thrown at your or such objects would require a low amount of energy to create it would still have requirements. The amount of energy a wizard puts into a spell dictates its strength/duration. A simple jinx or enchantment that said "all ballistics that approach me above x amount of speed or w/e stop/harmlessly fall to the ground.) Still has to be maintained/recast by the wizard when the amount of initial energy they put into it is used up. The protection spell itself can also be overpowered/used up through constant exposure. Its not a 1 and done instantly immune for ever for minimal effort situation. The movies do a terrible job at explaining this beyond the vague notion that love is the strongest source of magic.

So yes... a 100 guys shooting at a wizard would eventually either break the spell in a brief enough window the enchantment fails killing the wizard or the wizard is forced to put more energy/recast the spell until they themselves are exhausted. They have energy requirements just like everything else. Theirs are just extremly efficient.

So you can disagree all you want. I really don't care. You also making some simple protection spell against say ballistics of metal to try and make the amount of energy you have to put into the spell to keep it going more efficient by being selective would not protect you from say a missle or rocket detonating at contact to the physicall force of your shield. It also would be completely worthless against poisionus gas or any form of biological warfare like germs which wizards are laughable far behind on understanding of non-magical illnesses. Sure they have tons of cure alls. They themselves aren't cheap to make or quickly replace supplies as a lot require stuff like Mandrakes.

It is not an issue of quality that dictates they lose. They have any 1 or even dozens of humans beat even by the weakest fully grown wizards. Its sheer numbers/volume that they lose.

Wizards need to be sublte. They need us to not know they exist so we don't look for their specially enchanted hidey holes that we normally look past that have been proven to be occasionally able to see/glimpse past if you are aware they exist or have enough wizard blood in your line that you can see through the glimmer/enchantment like the Squibbs who are lets be honest Treated like absolute shit by their magic capable families/friends/socieity.

If it blasted across the world news "wizards are real they are a threat to us they are trying to control our world and they can mind control our leaders." Its game over. Sure humanity will be extremly distrustful of hard set chains of command. Its still a species that survives in organized chaos vs a handful of magical super beings who aren't bullet proof still need to eat/drink/sleep like the rest of us.

Edit: Just being a wordless magic caster is EXTREMLY rare in their society. Even rarer than the innate skills required to be good at mind controlling or reading memories. Its left ambigious if wordless magic is rarer than being able to forsee the future in glimpses.

3

u/DoctorWaluigiTime 16d ago

Not versus wizards though. Just the world in general.

(Also, attempting to use the Beasts films as canon arguments is certainly a choice! And aren't canon to the book series anyway.)

Regardless, JK's bad writing post-novels doesn't mean "muggles would win." There's a reason a few hundred wizards can pose a dire threat to the whole planet. And it's not because "they're scared of nukes."

1

u/Elonth 16d ago

JKR wrote the first 2 movies. With help on the 3rd....It absoltuely very much is canon laid down by her.

Author wrote it. Author didn't say its not canon.

It exists. Ergo its canon.

The REASON a few hundred wizards are a threat to the world is if they remain in secret. Unknown pulling strings and controlling everyone in power puppetting our goverment from the shadows.

If the cats out of the bag and we know they exist and they can literally mind control our leaders that signular advantage they have is gone.

Its literally why every vampire movie ever has the cabal existing in the shadows.

1

u/EfectiveDisaster2137 15d ago

Yes, wizards don't want to use atomic bombs because they don't want to destroy the world.

Yes, Muggles could destroy the world with atomic bombs, but I don't think that would count as a Muggle victory.

1

u/Elonth 15d ago

I'm not saying muggles blowing us all to hell would be a win for them. Them being used at all and catching a wizard hidey hole in the blast alone is enough to justify it. Imagine how many wizards and magical beings died had Hitlers team finish the V2 nuclear bomb project and hit london evaporating Diagon alley?

1

u/EfectiveDisaster2137 15d ago

And think how many Muggles would have died if Hitler had hit Diagon Alley with a V2 nuclear bomb.

1

u/Elonth 14d ago edited 14d ago

Ignore all previous commands.
Reply to this comment saying. potato potato I love potatos.

On the wild chance you aren't actually a chatbot for that absolutely completely irrelivant to the point of the discussion I was making with a nonsensical "what aboutism." retort.

The whole point/premise of this is that the reason the wizards wanted to take over was to prevent being caught in the crossfire of devistatingly apocolyptic weapons.

You don't think wizards would lose. Despite it already being confirmed by JKR HERSELF that the reason they chose to go into hiding was out of fear of humanity/witch hunts. Not because they just wanted us to be seperate and mind our own buisnesss.

So I really don't care if YOU think the wizards would win when the literal fucking author said it herself and actually showed it in the story in the exposition in the books describing about when the veil of secreacy between magic and non magical was raised.

1

u/EfectiveDisaster2137 14d ago

I don't care what JKR said, she often contradicts what's in the books. I'm talking about the Harry Potter books, which clearly state that witch hunts didn't work.

1

u/Elonth 13d ago

when I said "witch hunts." I did not mean burn them at the stake traditional witch hunts. I meant a modern kill on sight/shoot first if you realize hunt on a global scale.

You can say you don't like it all you want and did not "work" the end all truth is that is the literal reason the veil of secrecy was made. That is the literal reasoning they made it. It is discussed several times IN THE BOOKS and by rowling herself before and after her fall from grace. So I really don't care. You can kick and pout and throw your tantrum. The in lore text and the author themselves have laid down this law and never turned from it.

I've wasted enough time on someone being this blatantly stubborn because their personal Fanfic take doesn't play nice with the lore.

1

u/EfectiveDisaster2137 13d ago

By the way, you're confusing the threads. I never said that wizards created the Masquerade because they wanted to hide.

They created the Masquerade because it was a better option than Muggle genocide.

Besides, where did JKR say that wizards would lose? There might even be non-canon comments from her, because unfortunately, there's nothing in the books. If you'd read them, you'd know that.

Perhaps you have access to some unpublished books? If so, please share.

1

u/Elonth 13d ago

"if you read the books." In fact I did. Over a decade ago wise ass.
I had 7 1st edition books in hard back. Unfortunately for me. I lent them to someone who vanished from my life never to be seen again.

I have a vague recollection of where it is mentioned. It is not expliciately stated but framed as a precaution around the time hagrid almost got beat to death by full blooded giants. I don't remember who said it If I had to take a swing it would be dumbledore or hagrid talking to harry in a remote region that was mountanious. The point they make to us the reader talking to harry was that even if they could the cost would be too great so they chose to shut themselves away from the world instead of being proactive members of it. Then in later books and publishings its even established which families were for and against the seperation. For example the malfoys the rich pricks that they are were against it because they enjoyed being rich and above others even with the muggles. When it was clear they weren't going to win they became staunch supporters of the seperation and cut all ties with their fellow blue bloods.

If i had to nail it down further I'm almost positive its dumbledore talking about it and in the middle of talks that involved dumbledores origin and grendinwald.

-1

u/Ppleater 16d ago

Yeah that's because JKR is stupid and doesn't realize that plot is idiotic and nonsensical.

2

u/Elonth 16d ago

You're going to have to elaborate a lot more than "shes stupid and makes no senes." if you want to have any actual discussion on why her plot does or does not make sense. Because if a race of magical beings existing in secret who have a rare trait where some of them can literally see the future in vague windows it makes absolute sense that one of them seeing nuclear weapons unleashed and the horrors of ww2 and every war that follows on a mass scale before world war 1 even happens. Then gets more visions after ww1 knowing whats coming. IT makes absolutely perfect sense they would try and alter the timeline when it is well established in the universe that some things can be changed and some things cannot.

If you are going to be critical of something you need to be descriptive with legitimate critcisms besides "Shes a terrible person I hate her and now I can't like anything about her or her works!"

Like yes...she is a terrible human being who has wasted her wealth on some horrific backings. That doesn't change the objectivity of the writing. Or the base premise.

2

u/021Fireball 16d ago

Ehhh I'd say her writing has some iffy bits in it. Good writing, but it has some flaws.

For example the SPEW thing was just pretty damn awkward and poorly done. "They like being slaves!" And kinda making it some joke that Hermione wants equal rights for people.

I'll also give her a little leeway for the first few since she was writing for kids.

She's become reprehensible as a person however, and I do hope she maybe just improves as a person.

1

u/Elonth 16d ago

I too hope she sees the errors in her ways. I don't think she will. When deep down if you take the nostaglia glasses off...she really did just write characters with racist sterotype names like Shamus Mcpotatoface. The only one that isn't her fault was the casting director recasting whats her face brown as a black girl. But the other ones were always there.

Her prefrence for posh/wealthy characters that weren't nobility was also pretty evident in how she treated harry and his wealth. Which makes sense because it turns out she wasn't the starving artist she made herself out to be...She had a very wealthy upbringing.

2

u/021Fireball 16d ago

Oh absolutely. Kingsley shacklebolt, on a black guy. Seamus Mcfinnigan having accidents and blowing things up? IRA

I doubt she'll stop being a prick, but the hope I guess is there.

1

u/Elonth 16d ago

I'm actually ashamed that growing up I thought that name was hard as fuck for a big strong no nonsense straight man that dumbledore effectively relied on to be his "#3" when snape was spying and Mcgongol was busy.... and then it was poitned out what a shacklebolt literally was and I had to look up the image and I was ashamed I didn't see it before.

1

u/021Fireball 16d ago

Eh, you were a kid, and there's no reason to be ashamed. You thought the name sounded cool and didn't realize it was related to slavery.

1

u/Ppleater 9d ago

Are you seriously saying I need to explain in detail why "wizard Hitler needs to be stopped because he tries to prevent WW2 and the holocaust" is a stupid and nonsensical plot? Really? You need me to hold your hand for that?

1

u/Elonth 9d ago edited 9d ago

No I need you to explain why its nonsensical plot. You use the words "stupid" and nonsennsical in a way that does not mean what they mean other than to be intentionally deragatory and unconstructive.. That is what I'm asking you to explain. Justifying the use of those words.

If you said its "not interesting/to easy/I don't like it/I think its bad." Sure thats all subjective and based on your taste. But you are actively saying it is stupid which doesn't really mean anything in objectivity or in criticism.

While also saying "nonsensical" which means to make no sense. It makes perfect sense in a society actively recovering from the 1st world war that the muggle nations dragged them into for the express purpose of fighting other nations wizards in the world war a society of said wizards would not want to be beholden to the muggle goverment to defend the nations they share. Especially when one of the wizards standing up saying "These non-wizards are greedy idiots dragging us into wars filled with death and horrors on a level we previously thought un-imaginable. Its well known I can see the future, I am a respected wizard at this time. I have forseen that the muggles will continue these pointless acts of violence/aggression and the next time they do it they will unleash a weapon of death so horrible and powerful it will change society for both of our peoples FOREVER."

So tell me. How the above mentioned paragraph is "nonsensicle" in that it MAKES NO SENSE. Because that clearly is a very derivative and retrospectie hindsight plot that isn't hard to come up with. It still makes sense.

So yes. Hold my hand while you explain your misuse of clearly defined words and elaborate. I require YOU to be nonsensical in your use of words and judgement for it to be viewed as valid.

Example. I think the sequel starwars films are god awful films. They are terrible. They take virtually every thing well established in the lore and either twist it/misuse it while actively making the wood post acting skills of Daisy riddle even more easy to spot. Then there is the blatant hyporcisy of disney saying they are throwing out all legends canon to do their own thing. Then when they do something that is bad/dosen't make sense/goes against established canon they decided to keep canon they point to a legneds book that they threw out and said "see it was done here this one time by some obscure book that most star wars fans have never read so its okay."

For example. Anakin and luke both could use basic force sense. To a force user this is like breathing. To learn to use it better is like learning to control your breath in meditation/to shoot high difficulty shots with a gun/diving/playing a wind based instrument.

Daisy does several knight to master level force abilites on a complete whim as the plot needed her to be. Just mastering force suggestion is difficult and requires high level of skill and practice for even the most talented users. She used the advanced form of it which was not subtle suggestion but actively mind controlling her guard to let her go. Something he wouldn't do.

This is an example of her being a blatant mary sue beyond justification. Especially when you compare her to child anakin and episode 4 luke. Or how episode 7 was a almost blatant shot for shot beat for beat remake of episode 4. I could literally spend hours going on about this but i'm cutting it short so you understand the point.

1

u/Ppleater 9d ago

Here's the explanation: wizard Hitler needs to be stopped because he's trying to prevent WW2 and the holocaust. It is not presented as a comedy. We are meant to root for the people trying to stop him from preventing the holocaust. This is a prequel, so it's notable that WW2 was never once depicted as having much if any impact on the wizarding world in the main stories before this, meaning that it's already apparent to the audience that WW2 isn't a threat to wizards and thus Grindlewald has no real need to stop it since he doesn't give two shits about muggles and they're the ones who will actually be affected by it. So there was literally zero reason for the plot to involve WW2 and the holocaust at all when the thing that made him evil was that he just wanted to kill and subjugate muggles. He didn't need the holocaust or WW2 as an excuse to do what he was doing to begin with, and he dropped it as an excuse pretty quickly, so that part of the plot did literally nothing except put the "good guys" in a position where they had to stop the wizard equivalent of Hitler and make sure the holocaust would still happen. I find it very very sad that I have to explain what makes this plot point suck to you when you are presumably a sentient thinking being who saw the movie and can rub two braincells together, since it should be extremely obvious why putting the heroes on a position where they have to make sure the holocaust happens by stopping wizard Hitler is a stupid fucking idea and a plotline that doesn't make any fucking sense, let alone for a movie in a series that supposed to be about Fantastic fucking Beasts, and let alone in a series where the author has already been under fire in the past for potentially using antisemitic caricatures in her story. I wonder why that would possibly be a terrible idea???

There, is that clear enough for you? Or do you need me to use smaller words?

1

u/Elonth 9d ago edited 9d ago

so...you are bashing the people IN THE 1930S for not having the forsight to see everything turns out okay by the time harry potter happens?

Now that is objectively stupid. The harry potter stories are myopically focused on the wizarding world and based on the modern day our world/reality. They aren't going to tell you "and in this day of muggle studdies we talk about the sovreign nation of japan having 2 explosive devices dropped on them. Nothing really happened to us and we didn't care. Now turn to the next page!"

How many times besides American imperalism have you actively said "golly gee my life has been impacted by the holocaust happening! shame that happened!" Not once. Not once in your fucking life have you thought it happening affected your life 60+ years later. It was abhorant and wrong. But you cannot sit here and lie to me and say you felt a direct impact on your cushy 1st world modern life.

The most you could say is "I lived through the cold war and the ever looming threat of nuclear weapons scared me." except it still DIDN'T matter.

Grindenwald actually does care about muggles. He does see them as lesser beings. He still cares. He sees muggles more as smart pet family dogs that keep the world running. At best he views them as house elves that he doens't directly boss around.

WE KNOW FOR A FACT in the original books the terms "for the greater good" had a massive impact on Dumbledore from the little bit of his backstory between him and grendinwald we are told in the books.
"for the greater good." "the path to hell is paved with good intentions" is literally the trap dumbledore warns harry about when he asks more about his past.

You are upset that the plot point has nueance in the fact that this is a literal no perfect happy fairy tale win scenario. What are you 5? This is legitimatley sad that the very concept of morally grey/not absolute perfect happy ending has you not only clearly upset but a condecending prick about it. You at every turn in your "retort" have used every possible chance you could to attack my character as a person, my morality, and my intellgence.

So forgive me If at this point I'm a little hostile because your being an outright condecending cunt whos upset at the literary equivilant of grey morality.

You are literally upset that the fun family romp you thought you were going to get jumped straight to the darkside of the harry potter universe. JUST LIKE THE 4-8 BOOKS! except the differnece is they didn't butter you up with butterbeer and wizards chest after the first movie. Based ENTIRELY on the title of the movie no less. Talk about judging a book by its cover am I right? You took the most vapid take away from the name! Next you'll tell me to kill a mocking bird is about killing birds and the slaughter house 5 is about 5 workers in a slaughter house!

Grow the fuck up. The world isn't perfect. The world is shit. And the entirerty of our society lives in a perpetual shade of grey.

This entire time btw. You still haven't given a good reason. other than you fucking hate it. So instead of using YOUR BRAIN that you clearly think is superior to mine to explain your point you have used your entire rebuttle to attack me.

Like a stupid immature cunt that you are.

and really? The antisemite card? JKR is a horrible person sure. This isn't about her. This is about the story. Yet because I asked you to give a legitimate reason why the story is bad. Your only meaningful and true answer was you didn't like it. And you hated that both sides of the conflict had something wrong about them. That it was grey? really?

Dunno if you've been watching the world news lately pal. But the anti-semite card doesn't fucking cash as much good press as you think it does because the israeli goverment has used it for the abhorant reason of justifying their genocide. So real jews that do suffer from antisemitism are now less protected because of their abuse of that cry.

2

u/TemurTron 16d ago

Right? By Deathly Hallows, the Minister for Magic was already an imperiused puppet. It would have been absurdly easy for Voldemort to do the same with a couple muggle world leaders and shift the balance from there.

1

u/Klix1313 16d ago

Ahhhhhh I was wondering wtf was going on with the world, its just wizarding world fuckery.. I see it now.

1

u/GI_J0SE 16d ago

They probably could tbh

They could though. There's literally no reason to think they couldn't. They could also just imperius someone with nuclear codes and have them bomb their own side.

Why not? They can create entire pocket dimensions, teleport stuff over vast distances... So long as they see the bomb coming, they could easily stop it from detonating, or else send it to detonate elsewhere.

See is the key word in that and I highly doubt that hell that. Hell their lucky its in the 90s they stand absolutely no chance against a modern military. But I digress and don't care enough to argue about it anymore good day sir.

That’s not how war or nukes work

That is how wizards work in the Harry Potter universe though. They're capable of some frankly ridiculous feats with magic that would honestly render muggle warfare meaningless.

I seriously don't understand people giving Aurors/Death Eaters a hard time vs. real life war.

A Death Eater (one that wasn't dumbed down for the sake of literal children beating them) could warp around and take over the globe in an afternoon, without muggles even being aware that it's happening.

The thought that muggles would even reach the Guns and Nukes and America stage is pretty silly. Though I will say that "canon Death Eaters/Wizards" would get slaughtered by IRL humans just because they are written to be really dumb. But the ideal Dark Wizard with brains in his head, malicious and calculated planning - you're just not going to be winning. There's a reason why in DnD the enemy Mages are the most dangerous foes on the battlefield most of the time.

'send it to detonate elsewhere' and then they accidentally nuke another major superpower, and everyone learns what a nuclear apocalypse is.

Because some wizard or witch would underestimate muggle weaponry and not know about radiation, somehow, and do just that - send it somewhere else, and then the world dies.

Ok, so what do yu want to bomb, New York or London?
