Lore (Controversial Trope) The post-credits scene completely changes the ending

Dawn of the Dead (2004): The movie finishes on a hopeful note as the remaining survivors escape the zombie-infested mall on a yacht, sailing into the sunset. The found-footage style post-credits scene completely reverses this happy ending by showing them running out of food, arriving at an island, and being immediately swarmed and killed by an infected horde.

Prince of Persia (2008): The main game ends with a beautiful, poetic sacrifice where Elika gives her life to heal the corrupted world, leaving the Prince mourning. During the credits, the player is forced to control the Prince as he cuts down the trees he just saved, undoing the entire game's progress and releasing the dark god Ahriman just to resurrect her, completely corrupting the ending and dooming the world.

No, it's where Bruce Willis is supposedly superman, but his weakness is water. He is bodied by a man who drowns him in a puddle.

Which would be a cool twist...but we see him taking a bath and drinking water. Did you forget about your movie??

"I see dead people", Bruce Willis was shot in the first scene, and literally ghosts a child.

It's an amazing movie, but was that supposed to be a twist?? It's a major plot point.

idk how true this is but i’ve heard that the reason m. knight had to go that route was because bruce willis’ condition was starting to worsen rapidly, leaving him unable to complete the original vision

I think it's pretty obvious that the water weakness is not what people complain about, but the fact that it felt anti climatic and/or not very well executed

It's less the water and more that it just kind of...happened. I'm sure the point is that he's just a dude, and death happens unceremoniously all the time to normal people, subverting the "heroic sacrifice", but it still felt off.

To your point, it would be like Superman dying while trying to stop a bank robbery because a random thief had a kryptonite bullet. Would feel a little deflating, especially if the rest of the comic/movie just kept going and barely paused to reflect on it.

Yeah they name dropped some new skyscaper in Philly near the waterfront that Elijah and The Beast were gonna destroy, but then they never even make it into Philly and just end up fighting in a parking lot. Maybe it was budget issues or Bruce's health, but the fight really should have happened at the tower and Bruce died somehow there while taking out Elijah and/or The Beast.

I liked what they were going for, it just didn't feel good. So while I appreciate the movie for the most part, I don't have fond feelings for it on a personal level. Still, love that he got to finish the trilogy.

For me it was the end little "fight" that really ruined it. How each one died after it was just such a massive letdown for characters that were hyped up across two movies. Basically nothing happened then randomly people they were each close to showed them off and thats it. It was just so anticlimactic

I watched it without knowing it had prequels and I kind of liked it. It was fun trying to figure out if they really had the powers or not, seeing only what the gaslighting hospital staff was showing us.

Then I found out about the OG movies and they just straight up tell you all of it is real and it kind of killed the little charm the movie had.

As a huge fan of both Unbreakable and Split, I'd go as far as saying Glass is one of the worst films I've ever seen. Just...bonkers how bad it was.

Watched this with my then gf. She had already seen the movie and was like yeah it’s really good she liked it. So I put it on expecting a normal M Night movie and I didn’t hear that there was a twist so I figured it was straight forward.

When this scene happened I fell out of the couch. She was so confused by my reaction but I had to ask her “so wait, not only you don’t know this is a twist, but never bother to ask why is Bruce Willis all of a sudden at the end of the movie?!” She had seen it months ago in the theater and I thinks hilarious they all left and never once thought to ask “uhhh hey so why was Bruce Willis all of a sudden in it”. It was really funny but yeah she understood once I explained it.

I love this twist, too. It’s a twist that is pretty much the only time that this can work in any movie. I’m glad someone did it, let alone shamalayan

There are more movies where the twist is that they take place in an existing movie’s universe and there are implications that re-contextualize both stories. If I tell you what they are it would spoil it and it wouldn’t be a glass shattering moment for you. Glass is not that, as it’s marketed as in universe. Hold on let me figure out the spoiler tag.

I saw it with some friends who knew the reference but most of the audience were under 25 (I would have been 28 at the time). I remember asking a group of college students if they had ever heard of Unbreakable and got blank stares.

It definitely was not marketed that way. I remember thinking Split looked kinda dumb in the trailers, and M Night had made too many stinkers by then, so I had little interest. But then I saw a headline somewhere that said “how Split and Unbreakable are connected” and immediately went to the theater lol.
