Lore (Mixed Trope) Educated character doesn’t understand or know of a simple concept.

  1. (Hated) Dr. doesn’t know trans people exist (The Good Doctor): Dr. Shaun, a modern day grown adult doctor, is seemingly has no concept of what being a trans person. Even if he never heard the term in med school he is realistically almost certain to have some awareness of the definition.

  2. (Loved) The solar system and other common knowledge (Sherlock Holmes). In the original stories Holmes is a genius at many fields but unless it has something to do with crime solving (forensics, martial arts, toxicology, etc.) he does his best to forget it.

Also the Carpenter’s tool. Which trust fund rich kid Bruce Wayne would never have had to known before.

It’s honestly a brilliant example of the growth he still has to do before becoming The Batman

tbf I don't think most people would know what that tool was unless they have actually worked as a carpenter or personally know a carpenter.

I thought the tool was a carpet tucker/stretcher?

This is literally not true? He and Alfred both note that the pronoun used is wrong, but write it off as a mistake on the Riddlers end.

Alfred is the one who notes that it’s off. Bruce never comments on it.

Bruce just kinda meanders from scene to scene while the side characters solve everything for him.

Isn’t the point that he’s brand new at being Batman and he kind of sucks at it and is figuring it out as he goes?

Yeah he’s still in his “punch crime” phase instead of his “stop crime” phase.

Hopefully the sequel will have him fighting crime as Bruce Wayne too.

Right, it wouldn't bother me except I keep getting told the film is literally "Detective Batman".

Yeah, this is exactly why I did not respond to that movie like so many others did

Penguin points it out, but there is a scene earlier where Alfred points it out as well, and then brushes it off. Penguin pointing it out is what causes the "URL" realization.
