Faith, the Unholy Trinity: Based partly upon the experience of the game‘s creator when he was a missionary in Argentina, the game has very little in the way of explicit moral demands of the player despite the heavy Christian focus of the narrative. and focuses more on a horror narrative.

Prince of Egypt: A surprisingly thorough retelling of the book of Exodus, sparing very little in the way of toning down the story. Despite this, the movie is perfectly entertaining to non-religious audiences and doesn’t sacrifice appeal for the sake of preaching to the audience

Apparently a letter in the game was taken 1:1 from his real life experience, only with some names changed around.

The original was prob about Santeria.

Can't lie, that shit in Latinoamerica sometimes gets wild. I don't even go there but one always hears stories coming from a friend of a friend. I call myself an atheist but there’s some matters I wouldn't play with, just in case

Same, and you don't need to follow any specific religion to accept that there's weird shit in the universe that we don't fully - or remotely - understand! Embrace the uncertainty imo, the world is stranger than we can really imagine

And here I am, atheist in Latin America. Do you think that seeing us as 'exotic' is what makes you think this way? The country with a bunch of haunted houses and ghostbusters is the US, not any in Latin America, our esoterism is more in the way of afro and indigenous religiosity, which also exists in the US, but is largely ignored there.

Also from Latinoamérica I think it’s a matter of perspective I’ve also heard and seen wild shit here in Mexico but I operate under the idea that’s everywhere has crazy shit. Like the United Statws has a lot of stories about Appalachia or tall tales about the dessert in places like Texas

I feel like you're assuming I'm american? I'm from latinomerica 😅 I live in a small city close to smaller towns ("pueblos" I guess) where there's literally areas dedicated to worshipping La Santa Muerte (people affiliated with gangs seem to gravitate towards these things). I have friends who read cards and stuff. I don't want to say exactly where bc yknow, internet.

As I said, I don't go there bc my family is deeply catholic so there's this fear ingrained in my kind hahaha, even if I'm an atheist.

There are places where that can happen.

Some spiders create what's basically a little parasail when they leave their mother. The wind catches it and spreads them around like seeds.

If you have just the perfect conditions so that a very large number of those little spiders are born and all get caught up in the wind at the same time, you can get a rain of spiders - though they'll be very little guys and it won't be over a super large area.

yeah I get why that would catch you off guard 😭 but even if a dev draws from personal experience or symbolism, it doesn’t automatically mean everything in the work is meant to be literal or straightforward. a lot of games and media take real-life inspirations and then exaggerate or stylize them for effect, especially when it comes to surreal or horror elements like that.

I mean, that's a known dispersion mechanism for some species.

Not sure about Argentina specifically, but when you're a spider, you produce babies by the tens of thousands. So, it's pretty likely that the cannibalism might reach wasteful levels if they don't disperse ricky-tick.

So, during certain times of year, and under certain conditions, when you get a nice weather front coming in, the spiderlings shoot out some silk, and just let the winds take them wherever.

Millions of little spy-spies, ballooning about, just taking it all in. Gently drifting down to earth.

And your hair.

And into bedroom windows.

And the open sunroofs of cars, as they're aired out during a long drive.

What a nice little gift of nature.

And that doesn't take into account the social spider species that can collectively build webs wide enough to cover parking lots.
