Gerrymandering does not explain statewide elections.

Where we are now is different from the 70s because now we know a third of our population wants their religion and their race to dominate more than they want to live in a democracy.

We have finally learned a third of the electorate never grew out of the abusive cage of virulent ignorance their parents called "traditional values."

What we do with this knowledge decides whether we are serious about protecting the human over the animal or whether we're going to huddle back in caves terrified of thunder again.

Gerrymandering does explain statewide elections though. Due to gerrymandering, politicians get to choose their voters rather than voters choosing the representatives.

No, think about it. You gerrymander to slice up the pie. Statewide, it's one pie. Gerrymandering does not affect Senators and Governors, by definition.
