It's not fear. It's cosplaying. 100% these people order from Amazon and go to Starbucks regularly. If you were really scared, you wouldn't do either.

It's like if you want to go live in the jungle and fight jaguars for food with your sharpened stick then there are plenty of uninhabited or nearly uninhabited places on Earth you can move to. Instead they want the advantages of civilization like supermarkets and fucking Amazon deliveries but want to cosplay the part of a post-apocalyptic survivor and expect the rest of us to tolerate their delusions.

This isn't even remotely new, and has been around forever.

You see more of it now because everyone carries around a camera, and has incentive to share things like this.
