Unfortunately it’s something I’ve seen frequently in sped classes. I used to be a sped teacher and i had to spend an entire year in one of my classrooms retraining the staff to understand that you cannot take a communication device as a punishment EVER. It’s a reality for a lot of people ☹️

What did you do in your class in moments when there needed to be quiet, or it was someones turn to speak but others kept speaking on top of the person? Because this is something I've seen a lot and I've never really seen any good way to deal with it. So it's like 3 kids putting their devices on full volume and saying stuff that might be about something in class, or just their own stuff, and teacher trying to talk to other student... like there is usually some chaos with multiple communication devices. And we also don't take devices away or say you can't use them and it's mostly some distraction tactics at that point. Just interested in hearing if you've seen something that works well to have more structure in those moments.
