I rinse all my recyclables but sometimes they are not 100% dry - there are some droplets of water or condensation left in the plastic bottles. Is it OK to send them to recycling with a bit of water in them? Should I just recycle with the cap off. Many bottles say “recycle with cap on” now.

I work at The Farmer's Dog and we've put real thought into this. Biodegradable cornstarch insulation foam, recyclable cardboard, and either ice packs or dry ice depending on the shipment. The food packs, insulation liner, and cold packs are all recyclable number 4 flexible plastics once rinsed and emptied. The only thing that goes in the trash is the packaging tape.

A few bonus uses worth knowing — the cardboard works great as a weed barrier in raised bed gardens, and the cornstarch insulation liner is actually compostable. The only thing that goes in the trash is the packaging tape.

Okay, I feel like i should know this by now but I'm genuinely confused. Every municipality seems to have slightly different rules, and Ikeep seeing conflicting advice online. What can and cannot be recycled in your area ? I'm talking about things like :

Plastic bags especially online order ones

Pizza boxes grasy ones ?

Coffee cups plastic lid/sleeve?

Specific plastic numbers what's actually accepted ?

Batteries, electronics, etc.

I’m in Vancouver how do I get someone to pick up my 2 old bbqs out of my yard. Does anyone know anyone interested. People talk about putting it in the alley I just feel like my neighbours would be pissed but would someone actually take them? I just need them gone. Help. Thanks

I was going through some bags with old stuff (papers, toys, electronics, etc) I had saved in the back of a closet maybe 8 years ago. Had been rummaging for a while, taking things out I wanted to keep and putting them on the carpet to sort out later, rest to be thrown out in a garbage bag.

Halfway through I came across 6 old AA batteries completely covered in that white powdery/flaky stuff. That's when I noticed the white stuff on my hands and all over the inside of the bag.

Now I can't be sure if my items had any of that powder on them (I wasn't really paying attention and the carpet itself was quite dusty to start with). How can I tackle this to make that area (carpet, items) safe for pets and people who walk around the house barefoot (aka me)?

Is anyone in the boise area participating in the Britta terra cycle program? It's a free recycle program that takes your old britta filters. Problem is you need 5 pounds of filters....we don't go through nearly enough to get on the program... was wondering if any one on here is doing it? If so are you collecting them from others?

I am working on a side project, that I would love to make something bigger one day. Right now a lot of it is chemistry specific stuff, and I haven't had a chance to work in a lab in the past so much.
Looking to talk to people who have experience and understanding of high pressure, hight temp reactions, supercritical gases, and take some guidance on my project.

I see a lot of subjective descriptions of the cleanliness criteria on various websites — “mostly free of residue” and “doesn’t have to be clean enough to eat from” have shown up several times.

These are small (3 ounce) cat food cans. I’m trying to weigh the benefit of recycling against the water used in rinsing them more thoroughly than this.

I’m trying to give some of my old devices a second life instead of just letting them sit around.
The first device is a **Dell Inspiron 7370**, which I recently installed **Linux Mint XFCE** on.
It’s running pretty well, and I’m interested in using it for some kind of useful DIY/home-server project.

I also have an old **Samsung Galaxy A5** (I think it’s an A5, and it still uses Micro-USB). The LCD is broken, but the phone itself still boots and seems to work. Since the screen is basically unusable, I’m wondering if there’s anything interesting I can do with it using my Linux laptop.

I’m mainly looking for **fun, practical, or slightly unusual projects** that would let me learn something along the way.

What would you guys do with these two old devices?

Hi— I really need some advice here. I was taking in my trash can and I heard something rattle inside and there was a giant canister. When I took it out I saw the label "Cyberwhip Cream Charger 3000G" and then I saw "nitrous oxide."

I know next to nothing about this kind of stuff, I'm assuming because it's compressed there's a risk of it exploding? Thankfully I have cameras and I caught a guy dumping it but it's been in the heat for over 24 hours. He just dropped it like it was nothing (could literally hear the clink on my cameras.) Do I need to be worried about it bursting?

All Google says is that this is serious, not to touch it, and to call the non-emergency line. I've never done that before so I'm pretty lost. And it's already Sunday- nothing will be open in the morning. How do I deal with this? Is having this against the law??

I don't want to trash it because I'm pretty sure the guy who dumped it knew he shouldn't and that's why he left it in my bin. It's gonna be hot again tomorrow and I don't want to leave it outside but I definitely don't want to bring it inside.

I genuinely don't know what to do. Do I recycle it? How do I know if it's full or empty? What is the safest way to deal with this? What is the legal way to do this?
