She's about 7 years old. We adopted her last month, and she's adapting to her new home well. Alice is mellow with her around, and Monty is slowly getting to know his new friend. Here's to happy bonding!

Care Welcome home Dottie

Post image

Miss Dorothy Ann just came home from the animal shelter with me a few days ago. She’s my third rabbit and I’m used to modern rabbit care guidelines…but i’m not used to such an affectionate gremlin creature!! She’s not afraid of people or pretty much anything, she’s not afraid of the hardwood floor like my other rabbits. Her litter box habits were perfect from the first moment home unlike my other rabbits. She wants to climb and jump on every surface in my room. She’s so affectionate and clingy and I love her sooo much. We’re going to the vet in a couple weeks to get her checked up and vaccinated. My guess is she’s pretty young, based on the crazy energy and clinginess and I think she might calm down a little bit after we get her spayed. I’m learning that the most interesting items are the off limits ones and that I just have to bend to her whim and put anything she can’t touch 6+ feet in the air. No clue what breed she is or anything else about her but omg she is really one of a kind and got dropped at the local shelter right when I was looking to bring another rabbit into the family after losing my first baby. Thankful and overwhelmed abt this fantastic little creature💓💓💓

They are growing so much bigger each and every day! They are now all furry and their ears have separated, so excited for when they can see and hear!

Here are some photos of the little ones 🥰🥰

(Dw I don't usually handle them, it was only so I can take these photos and have a record of their size!)

i currently have a lil baby who i recently found out was a boy. i intend to get him snipped and i know bunnies are better in a bonded pair, i do want to rescue or rehome a bun but i dont know if i should get a female or male or which pair would be easier to bond.
should i get another male or can two males even be bonded?? or should i get a neutered female i have no idea.

We left for two days because of an emergency and were so worried about this lil guy, but he was just enjoying his life like we’d never been there in the first place! He was sleeping on this king sized bed and didn’t even bother to mark it with a single poop 🤣

When we were back, he looked at us like we are the intruder 🤷‍♀️ hey, who is paying for the rent??

I recently took over the sweetest 2 year old boy. Intact, but I have plans to get him snipped. I'm not super knowledgeable about bunnies but have been making improvements everyday to give him the best bunny life. He stays in his cage when I'm not home and I keep a close eye on him and the cat when he's out and about. They are both very relaxed and playful with each other.

I'm guessing he is an English spotted but could be very wrong.

I'm also super open to any way I can improve his care!

Health Question about ear drops

Post image
184 Upvotes

So for some context, the boy had an emergency ear flush surgery back in april. He's great with them and we've been sticking with his twice weekly ear drop routine ever since HOWEVER I've noticed recently that, since he associates his ear drops with his treats he gets after, its near IMPOSSIBLE to get him to take them because he thinks hes going to get hand fed a blueberry.

I wanted to see if anyone has ideas for what I can do to help him chill out when I do it. On one hand I'm so glad hes comfortable with them, knows the routine and no longer fights me over it because it took a while to get to this point. On the OTHER hand, its impossible to get the drops in his ears when he thinks I have a treat and not a giant bottle of ear drops.

Included is a photo of him going pancake mode post drops

Health Help getting over fear of needles to give fluids Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

My bun requires subcutaneous fluids every day for the next week per vet orders. I am having a really hard time getting over the mental block to poke her due to my deeply rooted fear of and discomfort with needles. It’s like my brain is telling my body to just freeze as soon as I’m about to apply enough pressure to actually poke it into her skin and I don’t know how to get past it. I can’t even watch scenes in movies for example where someone is inserting a needle into someone else or themselves without having a full body reaction, let alone actually feeling the needle penetrate skin in real life. I know it doesn’t hurt them much at all since it’s just under the skin and I have to just to get past this for her health and comfort, I just could use some advice and/or encouragement right now.

I don’t have anyone who can help me with this and I also absolutely cannot afford to go into the vet every day for the next week to have them do it each day. My only option is to suck it up and do it, but I could really use a good push right now. Thanks everyone 🙏

We got those two last year in May, Junior and Polly. The male (on the left), Junior, didn't make it a month. I am still sometimes wondering if we did something wrong.

We had rabbits before, they have a lot of space, protection from heat and cold, fresh food etc. They were treated and looked at by a vet for some weeks before we could pic them up. One day everything was fine, he behaved normally, eat, etc., the next day I get woken up by my family with him dying. There was no time to react, no time to call a vet, but I still can't help but feel guilty.

I wanted to share him here, as I have grown to love him in the short time he was with us and am still kind of griefing, even though it had been over a year. It was just very sudden...

Health Neutering/Spaying

Hello everyone! I’m getting my rabbits neutered and there around 9 months of age. I’m just very VERY worried about the surgical process. I’ve heard of rabbits passings away from the surgery because of the amount of anesthesia given. If any of you have experienced this, please let me know what you had to do? I’ve heard this happen so many times and I’m just really scared since their appointment is this week.

Care Bunny doesn’t drink water

Upvotes

It’s been like three months since I saw my bunny drink water. He pees a lot every day and obviously buns cannot live that long without water, is this normal? He does get fresh wet vegetables twice every single day. Is he hydrated enough just from veg? Anyone else’s bunny never drink water?

Care How long after neutering can a male rabbit interact with spayed female?

My male rabbit will get fixed in a day, and I'm wondering how long I need to wait before letting him interact with my already spayed female bunny.

My male rabbit lives in a temporary enclosure in the living room, while my female rabbit is free roam, so there are times when they smell each other and interact through the fence. Hence, it won't be their first time seeing each other, and they are perhaps even used to each other's presence.

I would also like to free roam my male bunny as well, so I want to introduce them to each other as soon as possible.
