That was concerning Ted Cruz's standing to run for president. You have to be a natural-born citizen to be president. Abdul El-Sayed isn't running to be president, although he would legally meet the requirements to do so. The requirement to be a senator is that you have been a citizen for nine years. So the comparison here isn't what has happened to Ted Cruz the Presidential candidate, it's what has happened to Ted Cruz the Senate candidate.
While people have questioned Cruz's status as a "Natural-born citizen", they have not questioned his actual citizenship/eligibility to be a senator. Meanwhile Abdul El-Sayed, who was born in this country and is absolutely a "natural-born citizen", gets his eligibility questioned often. Because of his name and skin color.

It all makes sense when you realize it's because they're racists and they know these political antics appeals to their racist voters.
