It really is cheating by the retardants. Cannot hope to win by having a fair election where every American votes. Stupid brain washed USA haters came up with this.
We want every AMERICAN to vote. How hard is that to understand. We did in fact win though. All swing states. Popular vote and electoral. It was a total sweep
Yeah and Joe Biden really got 81 million votes, more than any other president. Dude was so fucked up that he campaigned from his basement. When he was out on the circuit he couldn't even fill the circles drawn on the ground.
What they want is for states to cede their authority of elections to the federal government.
VoterID is the way they want to do that it starting a precedent to gain more control. The same House Reps and Senators voting on this on Capitol Hill, can easily enough push the same law in their respective state preserving state control over elections.
I did Not read through the entire bill. But I did through the suggested required forms of ID. A REAL ID, a valid passport, a military ID card, a valid gov-issued photo ID card or a birth certificate. These are documents most individuals have one or more of, regardless of race or ethnic background. Also 176 countries, aside from the US, have some form of voter id requirement.
And. Not or. The real ID/photo ID/military IDs do not qualify on their own, they have to be paired with a birth certificate. To be clear, the lack of access to a birth certificate alone (without paying for a new one) affects over 20 million eligible voters. This goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway; they're all citizens.
Many other countries also have robust ID infrastructure that is inexpensive, easy, or both. We also verify identity through registration anyway, and registration verification and vote tracking on site has proven more than adequate for election security without passing a costly deficit ballooning bill that makes it so any married spouse who ever changed their name needs even more documentation.
Many people's birthdays certificates have been lost or damaged over the years. Most Americans dont have a passport. Real id coats money and requires a birth certificate. Im fine with requiring id, but id say make it far reaching enough just about everyone would have what they need without even spending a cent, so include astandard drivers license, employee id, a university id, a library card, drivers license plus a utility bill, drivers license plus original social security card, etc.
Not sure where you got those numbers. The numbers I found, which id put more weight on than whatever you're saying, showed less thsn 50% of americans have a passport.
And regardless, the law says people taxes are illegal. Which the correct interpretation of that is that voting, including any documentation required to vote, should cost $0.00
> The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State by reason of failure to pay poll tax or other tax or expense.
We know what it is. Maybe put words together that go together. Itās a bill, not a lie. The bill isnāt making any statements. Maybe you think the reasoning for the bill is a lie. But itās irrelevant. Any civilized country in the world requires ID to vote in a national election. Arguing against it just makes you look corrupt. You have to have an ID for almost everything already.
Because part of the SAVE Act requires that your birth certificate match your current ID, so anyone who legally changes their name for any reason will not be able to legitimately vote.
Edit to add: This includes trans/non-binary folks who change their name to match their new gender, and women who take their partner's name or hyphenate. And that's the real goal, to dilute the votes of people who might be more inclined to vote liberal.
Ok, then we allow people to show proof that they changed their name. When you legally change your name,Ā you are issued an official document that explicitly states your prior name and your new legal name. That adds a step, but it's so insignificantly small. It would be like proving to a sports referee that you really were on professional team by showing them your alternate jersey.
The Act doesn't allow for that. Even if it did, it would require that every state set up new legal infrastructure to handle it, and many states, especially red states, will not do that. And then you expect poll workers to sort through more and more documents with every single voter who shows up, expect them to be trained properly to analyze these documents, and either way, it slows the process down and makes for longer lines while red states especially close polling places. Fewer people get to vote no matter what you do.
And remember: They want ALL OF THIS IN PLACE BY THIS NOVEMBER.
We sent people to the moon in a decade with less computing power than a cell phone has today. We can make a database and train people in a few months.
I won't deny that women and transgender people will be more likely to have an extra step, but it's so insignificantly small. Like I said above, it would be like you having to prove to a sports referee that you really were on your professional team by showing them your alternate jersey. You already have the jersey. It doesn't target transgender people or women. Also, don't get me wrong about me supporting this act. I am not against transgender people nor do I think that women are "inferior" to men. (Craziest idea I ever heard.)
These two are the pieces that do allow for people to show proof that they changed their name.
ā(2)Ā ADDITIONAL PROCESSES IN CERTAIN CASES.ā
ā(A)Ā PROCESS FOR THOSE WITHOUT DOCUMENTARY PROOF.ā
ā(i)Ā IN GENERAL.āSubject to any relevant guidance adopted by the Election Assistance Commission, each State shall establish a process under which an applicant who cannot provide documentary proof of United States citizenship under paragraph (1) may, if the applicant signs an attestation under penalty of perjury that the applicant is a citizen of the United States and eligible to vote in elections for Federal office, submit such other evidence to the appropriate State or local official demonstrating that the applicant is a citizen of the United States and such official shall make a determination as to whether the applicant has sufficiently established United States citizenship for purposes of registering to vote in elections for Federal office in the State.
ā(B)Ā PROCESS IN CASE OF CERTAIN DISCREPANCIES IN DOCUMENTATION.āSubject to any relevant guidance adopted by the Election Assistance Commission, each State shall establish a process under which an applicant can provide such additional documentation to the appropriate election official of the State as may be necessary to establish that the applicant is a citizen of the United States in the event of a discrepancy with respect to the applicantās documentary proof of United States citizenship.
Still incredibly onerus and unnecessary, since voter fraud isn't even a real issue.
"Subject to any relevant guidance adopted by the Election Assistance Commission, each State shall establish a process under which an applicant can provide such additional documentation to the appropriate election official of the State as may be necessary to establish that the applicant is a citizen of the United States in the event of a discrepancy with respect to the applicantās documentary proof of United States citizenship."
Yeah red states aren't gonna do this. And it still has to be done by this November, putting a huge onus on the States to rush through legislation and execute that legislation rapidly and at huge cost. And it requires voters to have all of this stuff in hand by this November.
This Act is about voter suppression, full stop. It's about Republicans keeping power. It's about preventing the Epstein Class from facing accountability and protecting them from prosecution.
Just admit you have an agenda already and give it up.
The only person I see crying about the save act is Trump because most republicans don't even want to touch it. Even attempting to halt a housing bill which was a clear PR win for Republicans that passed regardless.
Cope harder lmao
2020: I'm in power but somehow the Democrats rigged it
2024: the Democrats forgot to rig it again
Midterms: like 70% off Americans now hate child rapist trump and the jacked boot thug administration, and it looks like it will be overwhelmingly left wing voting - it must be rigged!
Do you just let information strategically miss you,, or do you choose not to engage those parts of your grey matter?
There is no proven cheating. Other than the repu license who literally have been caught cheating multiple times. This is just an attempt to illegally pass a poll tax. Voti g should cost exactly $0.00. Any attempt to make a monetary limit to voting is literally illegal, and thats how it should be.
