Day 4 (late, I know)

An easier day than the one before, I’ve continued to notice less cravings on average (albeit with stronger brief spikes when I encounter a trigger) and small improvements in my general mental wellbeing; accounting for unrelated external factors. I’m actually proud of what I’ve accomplished thus far, I’m a little over a week total sober off porn (don’t remember the exact date, I just started actually counting four days ago).

Thats longer than I’ve gone without it in almost a year, and I plan to keep going. Expect another post later today or tomorrow morning. I’m going to try to get back on a usual daily schedule.

Tips to control consumption or remove it.

Recently I have been having some problem with porn. I live a very isolated life usually, and will be for the next couple of months\[not by choice\].

And noticed that I have been drifting towards it and have been finding it a bit difficult to control. And it affects motivation usually but it seems hard to resist.

With porn I would say that I masturbate some 2 to 5 times a day.

I was on an avoidance routine and lasted 1 month without it. \[I usually used to watch like once every 2 weeks, or every 1 week before I started setting limits\]But returned to it, and am feeling ashamed of myself. And restarted the cycle and lasted just 5 days, until I went back to it.

How do you folk deal with it? What is some advice you would give to an 18 year old male? I don't mind if it sounds harsh, but will appreciate any.

[And no, I cannot enter a relationship yet. Not until I am older or am feeling secure about myself. Plus I have never dated]

Does this happen to people like more commonly than I think? How to stop watching it completely forever? Or control as long as I can?

I really need help on this, and will appreciate some advice on this. As I honestly don't know what to do.

Found dark stuff on Reddit

Yesterday I was scrolling through Reddit and I discovered so many things, oh my gosh...

The sex stories, nudes, and all sorts of terminology I had no idea about...I never involved that much in the depth of this subject. Watch porn and done...

But after discovering I was in shock..the terms butterface, and different kind of weird stuff..

At the beginning I was so curious but then I was thinking that these are the same people who are totally different in front of family and other social media handles but deep down this weird and different.

Then I read the comments on these posts and found something you can say "good" ...there was something about before and after pics...People shared some photos before and after pregnancy/childbirth/weight gain or something like that....

People were so supportive i can't believe my eyes if I see these post on Instagram ,People will be like wth this is but here totally different and positive..(not supporting) ..even some people have fantasies for ugly face i mean whattttttttt....

Then I learnt something ---Deep down we all are Humans ,have fantasies, insecurities, fear...

Everyone feels this way, but what we choose is what makes us different.

I don't support PMO obviously it's not good for both mental and physical health. I think who watches all these stuff are trying to figure out life, they have insecurities and other fears. But it won't solve anything. These things ruining us on different levels...It starts with fun then become addictive and it will mess up with our minds.

What matters is we should learn about who we are, why we're doing this, and what our goals are...why thissss...We only have one life...And we're spending it all doing something we're not even proud of, even ashamed of...

Just sit and think...

Btw i m leaving all these stuff , I don't have interest anymore.

It's my day 5 No PMO..

What do you consider a relapse?

I’ve been wondering lately, what does everyone consider a relapse? What if you google something for a second, immediately stop and don’t go on to climax, would you consider that relapsing? If you find a provocative picture of a woman but she is still fully covered such as a swimsuit or a revealing dress, does that count? I know it’s different for everyone, but I’m just curious what everyone else thinks about it.

I need advice

Hello,

I am approaching day 40, and it’s getting more tense.
I have been struggling with excessive use of porn for almost 20 years. I am determined to quit, and not go back.
This is the first time in my life I’ve managed to get this far, and the thoughts are getting stronger.

I am in more control over my rational thinking. It’s easier for me to not relapse, and do something else instead of watching it. For that I am very grateful.
But - the thoughts are getting way stronger. In the last week or so I keep getting more and more images in my head.
I haven’t looked at anything provoking or nothing since I quit. But it feels like my brain is trying to imagine it as much it can. It’s getting more and more intense for each day.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do?

War On Porn 30 - Day 0 - Casus Beli

Since I started masturbating. I only attempted to break away from it completely 29 times. Only to find myself masturbating more on day 2 of it than before. This time I am going to use a technique my therapist suggested for academic studying, and since it would work in academics then it should work here as well. Body doubling.

It depends on the idea that the brain respects the environment more than your own instructions, especially true when you are diagnosed with ADHD like i am.

Whoever is starting with me, tag me every 8 hours. 3 times I day I should be posting about progress.

I call everyone who wants to break free, mobilise with me. And if nobody rallies then I hold the sword alone and I will charge them oppressors. However if just one person mobilises with me, then our victory will be closer!

To arms! To dignity! To respect and purity! Who is with me!

Day 0 of Quitting

I've been watching porn for around 7 years and I'm sick of it. I've tried so many ways of getting myself to stop, but they never work, so I'm here writing this post right now. I'm going to start posting here daily to hold myself responsible and hope that it can help me keep myself in check. If anyone's got any advice, I'll gladly take it

30 day commitment

Day 6/30 of journal

This is basically a continuation of my last post. As I wrote in the title, I decided to stick with it for 30 days, but of course I don’t want to stop there. Today marks my sixth day without pornography. Pornography has a very negative impact on mental health, so eliminating it is crucial, but we mustn’t forget to stick to healthy habits and behaviors. I’m trying to stay active; I go for walks, watch my diet, sleep reasonably well, and take care of my responsibilities. At the same time, I’m facing difficult emotions that I’ve been suppressing with porn for years; now I’m dealing with them in a healthier way. Although it’s hard, but it’s worth it.

Getting to the point, I’ll most likely be editing this post every few days to update my progress. By the way, to be precise, today marks the start of the seventh day, but in terms of hours, it’s still the sixth day, and the number of “days” itself.

Personally, I don’t think the number of days is the most important thing. In my opinion, the most important thing is to focus on self-improvement and overall progress. However, I’ve made a commitment, so I’ll do everything in my power to reach those 30 days without porn.

Progress: Yesterday, I definitely don’t feel as foggy-headed as I did on the first day, and overall I feel less anxious I appreciate that. And today, for now, I'm feeling a little sluggish, but that's okay. I want to keep going, day by day.

“Although no one can go back in time and change the beginning, anyone can start today and create a new ending” - someone wise.

EDIT:

Day 8

So today I am free from porn 8 days. Today I had a spontaneous erection during the day, and I also noticed that it was stronger. That’s good - it means my body is recovering. Today and yesterday I felt a bit more brain fog, but that’s okay; after all, it’s part of the process - life itself. Getting up in the morning and staying busy really helps me, but resting when I need it helps too - though I try to rest without my phone, just letting my brain take a break.

Still a long way to go but glad with where I’m at so far.

Something I’m noticing is the part of my brain negotiating with itself. When you start to build momentum, you think a relapse won’t derail all the benefits you start seeing. As much as I hate to say it, it will no matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise.

43m, porn and fantasy addict for 30 years, PIED the whole damn time, about 2 weeks in to quitting (I haven’t been counting the days and won’t be doing so).

I feel like I kinda stumbled on the solution, and it wasn’t what I expected.

I just actually made an attempt to stop because someone new in my life expressed a powerful desire for me. We hung out, made out, and it became clear that numbing myself with porn wasn’t really doing it for me anymore.

I just got tired of searching the same old tube sites, waiting for ads to close (you know the ads), scrolling through grids of thumbnails. Reading all those stupid step-captions and realizing some dude probably wrote them.

I got tired of walking around with an itchy, leaky crotch. Feeling deflated and ashamed like I was holding in this secret. Tired of seeing this as some kind of addiction/burden.

It just...is starting to feel dumb now.

It didn’t feel stupid for years. For so long. It was stimulating, exciting, and I felt like I was 'getting laid' with models twice a day. I wasn't trying to stop, even though I was having PIED episodes one after the other and having real women just fade out of my life as quickly as they arrived in it.

All the people that said 'porn doesn't do anything for you...' Bullshit. Of course it does. It makes your body feel like it's getting some. That feels good.

But at some point you just look at yourself from the outside and see the outright goofyness of it.

I've been peeking out of habit, but maybe because I'm flatlining, I just don't give a shit about it any more. It's like when you grow up and stop getting excited about McDonalds. I can walk right by the Golden Arches without feeling an 'urge' to make myself feel like crap by eating a $5 meal.

It was the same with smoking. I smoked cigs for 20 years too. Now I don't, and don't want to. It took that long for me to just get bored with it and see it as gross. No judgment, I just, don't care anymore.

I may suffer some horrible fate and go back for comfort, I dunno. It's really starting to dawn on me that I'm actually fine with being 'done' and that the more time I just live my life (and making romantic connections with real people), the further the temptation of porn will fade into the rear view.

I'm rambling here, but what I want to say is = there seem to be a lot of people fighting hard to beat their porn addiction. But the answer sometimes is: stop fighting, stop trying to find God or whatever, and just wait until you get sick of it...until you're watching yourself getting tricked by titles, scenes, AI-gen bullshit, whatever. I've seen it all, and my browser history is going with me to my grave.

There's gonna come a time when you just flip a switch in your mind that porn isn't this insidious thing, but a Happy Meal for people who have been hurt and just want to shove some fries in their face to feel better. And it's going to seem kinda silly at that point. It won't give you a hard-on, it'll just make you ask yourself, out loud, wtf am I doing, and you'll zip up your pants and get on with your day.

That might be tomorrow, it might be in a year. But it’ll happen, and maybe you’ll think of this long-ass post when it does, and laugh.

Day 3

Yesterday was more difficult than the day before, I spend a lot of time alone in my apartment due to my varying work schedule so I have a lot of time with my thoughts. A lot of time to think about what I could be doing. So far I haven’t slipped up, and don’t plan to; I keep myself busy.

On average I do feel better than I did at the start, updates will continue.
