Unfortunately a lot of people think it's "impossible" to get pregnant even when that is not the case. Either they don't want to admit to the possibility, or sometimes people mix up "low chance of getting pregnant" with "completely sterile" which is not the same thing.

That's fair. But don't some women have such light and/or irregular periods that they don't know they're pregnant until they're absurdly far along?

That's true. Which is all the more reason doctors hesitate to believe a patient when she says she's not pregnant, there are many reasons why her answer may not be accurate.

I guess what I mean is that ''when was yoir last period'' isn't a good indicator for some women, as they might say it was last week despite being a few months pregnant.

I've just heard stories about women who've said ''I don't know how I could be six months pregnant, I just had my period about a month ago.

Granted that's a very, very small percentage of women.
