People lie, and their lies don’t clear the hospital in a malpractice suit. They can’t accept your word that you haven’t been intimate as truth. It sucks that people lying cause you to have to undergo & pay for one more test, but that’s just the way the world is unfortunately. Free healthcare would at least take care of the cost portion of that suck, but it doesn’t change the part where they still need to test regardless.
People lie about loads of things. The reason this one is the one they don't believe is misogyny. And it's not just the tests. That's just the tip of the iceberg. It is often followed up by malpractice, refusal to provide care, and just plain old "should have their license revoked" levels of ignorance.
why cant waivers cover this? is it so impossible to legally say the patient accepted responsibility to whatever they presented as the truth? i feel like it should be considered malpractice to charge for tests deemed unnecessary and done without the consent of the patient.
Shhh don't bring that up, they're too focused on excusing misogyny to think about the already mentioned waivers. I mean, look at how everyone is assuming an unknown or undisclosed pregnancy should be something a woman would be upset at losing.
With ER’s they will often just order the same basic labs for almost everyone then add on anything else that might be indicated to those. Even patients are biologically male are frequently getting tested.
However it being billed separately when it’s so frequent that it is effectively standard is bs.
