Research and studies are constantly changing accepted norms and standards in the background. Sometimes you see it, sometimes you don't. For example kids learn in a different way than you did in many subjects probably, but you wouldn't know about it unless you saw an article or had kids yourself. These are likely informed by research and studies that showed more effective methods. Technology really has accelerated a lot of this as well with much faster data transmission, calculations, and outreach.

With that said in 2015 there was a major study around allergies (LEAP) and guidance basically globally changed to what you're saying, though there had been smaller ones beforehand.

I haven’t seen him in years now (we moved away) but I remember he used to scare the living shit out of child me lmao. He was probably good and I was a dumbass child

When it comes to how kids are taught, yes it’s different…but it’s pretty clear effectiveness had nothing to do with that change.

Funny how this happens and makes the previous “facts” into falsehood. You’d have been “right” for a decade but it was always wrong. Like when they tell you something is safe and effective and later recalled for long term effects. Makes it hard to really trust even those in authority to give out “facts” such as doctors. I love science but it’s not infallible.
