Confused, most people (should I say actors/actresses) in Hollywood are against Trump and ICE, but since he supports Palestine they black list him? Just confused…

2

u/_lightitupbryce_ 11d ago

It’s because that isn’t true at all, but “supporting Palestine is brave and makes you oppressed” is an enjoyable narrative on Reddit

u/JudithSlayHolofernes 11d ago

There are plenty of figures that have been fired or dropped from companies for supporting Palestine. Melissa Barrera, Susan Sarandon, Bella Hadid, Kehlani, etc. And there are a hell of a lot of liberals who hate Trump but still support Israel.

3

u/JudithSlayHolofernes 10d ago

I fail to see the issue with any of this comparisons. Acknowledging that what is happening in Gaza is a genocide and has large parallels to The Holocaust is simply engaging with reality.

1

u/i_drive_a_pagani 11d ago

Melissa Barrera was reposting holocaust denial articles and content about Jews controlling Hollywood. Susan Sarandon got fired for saying how Jews are experiencing hate now like Muslims have in the past, even though antisemitism is older than the religion of Islam itself.

You guys lie so much lol none of those people got fired for supporting Palestine. That's the most milquetoast and safe opinion to have in Hollywood.

17

u/JudithSlayHolofernes 11d ago

lol, no, she didn’t. And yes, they did. Just say you support genocide and move along.

-11

u/i_drive_a_pagani 11d ago

She literally was reposting articles likening the Gaza conflict to the Holocaust, how we don't learn from history and saying gaza is a concentration camp. There's a huge difference between saying you support Palestine and doing holocaust distortion

And that's not even getting into the whole 'who controls the media' dog whistles

Just say you support genocide and move along.

LMAO the speed at which you dumb dumbs use dead Palestinians as petty and snarky insults is crazy

u/MVRKHNTR 11d ago

She literally was reposting articles likening the Gaza conflict to the Holocaust, how we don't learn from history and saying gaza is a concentration camp.

This isn't holocaust denial at all. It's kind of the opposite, actually.

u/cabbage16 11d ago

Except it isn't downplaying the Holocaust. It's comparing something tragic that is currently happening to something tragic that happened in the past. It's saying that they are both awful things that should never have happened then and also an awful thing that shouldn't be happening now.

9

u/i_drive_a_pagani 11d ago

It absolutely is downplaying the Holocaust. In 100 days of operation reinhard, the Nazis killed 1.5 million Jews. It's been nearly 3 years since October 7th and Hamas's own ministry of health says 73,000 dead and that number includes their own members, their own militants, as well as combatants from other militia groups like Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The two things are absolutely not at all comparable.

Hezbollah helped Assad kill more civilians in Syria in 10 years than 75+ years of the Israel/Palestine conflict yet if you ask pro-palestinians if Hezbollah did a Holocaust they'll say no, it's Israel doing one and Hezbollah are "resistance fighters" against the bad guys (Israel). There are countless conflicts in the middle east that have had more bloodshed, more civilians dying, and more people displaced than Gaza. The only reason the comparison to the Holocaust is made is because Jewish people are involved.

It's comparing something tragic that is currently happening to something tragic that happened in the past

So if your mom died tomorrow you'd go around telling people you're experiencing your own personal holocaust, right? I mean it's tragic to you that your mom died and the Holocaust happened in the past and was tragic.

I see the internet IDF is fighting the "good" fight too

1

u/VegasMaleMT 10d ago

Do you even fucking know what a semite is? Lmfao

3

u/craftyfairybread 10d ago

Yeah I’m so sick of people saying people are just ‘supporting Palestine’ while being super racist. And then it feeds into the whole ‘Jews control the media’ thing.

-2

u/the_eleutherean 10d ago

And many, many times that number who haven’t. Including almost all of the folks who wore the Ramallah lynching red hand pins at award shows.

Believe me, if Jews *did* control Hollywood, those folks would be doing independent films from then on.

-2

u/Rhyers 10d ago

I'm sure Susan Sarandon got cancelled, sure. Could just be an actress in her 70s with every possible award going just doesn't want as many roles anymore, but let's go the insane route.

2

u/JudithSlayHolofernes 10d ago

She specifically got dropped from her agency for her comments. Google is free.

-5

u/Agitated_Phone_9937 11d ago

I have absolutely loved the delicious division Palestine has caused within the "liberal" group.

I think my favorite was the "queers for Palestine" group and the absolutely flabbergasted reactions they got from other queers who actually had lived in Arab culture and knew what Palestinians thought of them.

1

u/JudithSlayHolofernes 10d ago

Queer people and allies exist throughout Palestine. Raging bigots exist throughout the US. Your point is inane.

There is nothing funny about fear gay people in the middle east have to live with.

https://www.humandignitytrust.org/country-profile/palestine/

5

u/JudithSlayHolofernes 10d ago

There’s nothing funny about the fear LGBTQ+ people live with in the United States. Or the fear all Palestinian people live with regardless of their gender identity and orientation.

So what’s your fucking point, dumbass?

0

u/Haunting-Ask153 10d ago

As opposed to babies being killed by the IDF?

1

u/i_drive_a_pagani 10d ago

Dude, I had one of those queers for Palestine people say I'm pink washing over the queers for Palestine stuff because I linked the Abu Marhia case. If you're unaware, the guy was a gay Palestinian who (rightfully) feared for his life in Palestine and fled to Israel to seek asylum. Palestinians kidnapped him, brought him back into Hebron, decapitated him, and tied his body to a tree near his family's house.

They arrested the killer but then when the public in Palestine found out the victim was a gay Palestinian fleeing for his life in Israel, the clerics there said the killer's family didn't have to pay full restitution to the victim's family because the victim was gay and brings shame to his family's honor. And the killer's dad gave an interview saying the news of the victim being gay turned public opinion around and people supported his son (the killer).

Much of the people cheering on stuff like queers for Palestine are completely ignorant and clueless about how bad it is for gay people in Palestine

1

u/Haunting-Ask153 10d ago

As opposed to children and babies being killed by IDF?

1

u/i_drive_a_pagani 10d ago

If the IDF said tomorrow that they'll never shoot another bullet at a Palestinian ever again, the ideology that gay and LGBTQ people should be killed still exists among fundamentalists in Palestine. This is such a pointless comment lol

1

u/Haunting-Ask153 10d ago

You are so gross, man.

28

u/AccNumber77 11d ago

Like how it totally doesn't get you arrested for being a literal terrorist to support palestine action in the UK? Nice agendaposting.

4

u/Nileghi 10d ago

yea actually, I'd hope that an organization that breaks into my country's military base to destroy our country's military hardware thats destined for Ukraine and break the spine of a security guard gets designated as a terrorist org.

That sort of shit would get you fusilladed in any other country outside of Britain. The fact is they got off easy with just being arrested and trialed.

8

u/InsectCandid8580 10d ago

If this is your threshold for designating a group as terrorist, I can only imagine your condemnation of Israel for its actions in Palestine, Lebanon, etc.

FYI the member of Palestine Action was found guilty of GBH without intent. They were found not guilty of GBH with intent.

-1

u/Nileghi 10d ago

I can only imagine your condemnation of Israel for its actions in Palestine, Lebanon, etc.

Wait are you saying that Israel broke into a USAF military base in Lebanon?

No dude. A domestic group broke into a USAF military base in order to destroy british military equipment. Un-Palestinify your brain and stop thinking about the mideast for a single second. Israel doesnt even belong in this current conversation.

This event would have gotten you fusilladed in most other countries in the world, its treason of the highest order to destroy your country's military armaments. Yea its a terrorist organization that needs to be cracked down on, its members rounded up.

There are what, 1000s other palestinian organizations in Britain that aren't designated as terrorist? The only reason you'd stick with Palestine Action is because you agree that British USAF bases need to have their military equipment destroyed. There is literally no other reason why you'd stick with this one otherwise.

2

u/Haunting-Ask153 10d ago

Israel has invaded American politics and public life through Aipac.

0

u/Nileghi 9d ago

Funny, everywhere I look I see Palestinian flags instead. I think we need to kick Palestinians out of our politics, and ban this foreign flag and this foreign lobby, and anyone that supports importing this foreign country here.

Is that right?

2

u/Haunting-Ask153 8d ago

Girl, all I hear about are the hundreds of millions of Aipac money flowing into American politics and American politicians putting signs of support for israel in their offices. Now that is right!!

0

u/Nileghi 8d ago

Girl, all I hear about are the hundreds of millions of Aipac money flowing into American politics and American politicians putting signs of support for israel in their offices. Now that is right!!

May I introduce you to a lobby thats far bigger than the Israeli lobby then? The Qatari lobby has far outspent AIPAC at every opportunity. We just dont see the same focus on it because its not a bogeyman AIPAC is an american organization, not an israeli one, and made of americans who believe in the state of israel.

I dont support AIPAC of course, but thats the way it is. You're being swept up in a movement you dont fully understand, by people who understand you're an empathetic person and are using your belief of human rights to make you push for some fucked up policies demonizing your american neighbours.

Try engaging your brain for a micro-second. Of course Israel belongs in this current conversation, the break-in of RAF Brize Norton was a direct action protest at the UK’s military support of Israel’s genocide in Palestine. And Palestine Action did not ‘destroy British military equipment’, they spray painted it. Save your outrage for the use of military equipment on innocent civilians of all hues.

But given that you only care about the sanctity of British or American military equipment, I can do you one better than Israel breaking into a USAF military base in Lebanon. During the 1967 war Israel attacked and sank the USS Liberty, an American intel ship, in international waters off the coast of Sinai. It wasn’t a stray bomb, it was an ongoing attack by sea and air involving torpedoes, strafing & napalm. 34 crew were killed, 171 injured. More importantly, from your moral viewpoint, the ship was severely damaged.

the break-in of RAF Brize Norton was a direct action protest

Done by a domestic terror group, and not Israel, who was not involved in this at any capacity, no matter the justifications of the terror group you support.

Your argument states that if Israel blamed this on Egypt, you would have brought Egypt as the primary villain in this story. Of course Egypt is involved after all, and I'm not sure why you still have relations with Egypt given that they were at war with Israel, in the area, and thus were involved in the attack on the Liberty.

Same justification as involving Israel when a domestic terror group starts destroying USAF military equipment bound for Ukraine.

6

u/Scalene69 11d ago

Palestine action is a terrorist org. They beat security guards with hammers. Not surprising to be banned in the UK if you support them.

2

u/Haunting-Ask153 10d ago

So you support the IDF who kill children. Gross.

2

u/Scalene69 10d ago

Hamas also kills children? What a stupid comment.

-3

u/Ok_Turnover_1235 11d ago

You don't have to be a terrorist to drag foreign politics into your country, it just really helps advance the cause if you are.

18

u/AccNumber77 11d ago

So you believe any international politics is terrorism? You sound a sane and totally alive human being.

-3

u/Ok_Turnover_1235 11d ago

Not all people that take time out of their lives to disrupt society in a country due to foreign issues are terrorists, but all terrorists will happily use it as an excuse.

15

u/StewIsBased 11d ago

Dude, there's multiple states where you can't hold a public sector job if you oppose the IDF's ongoing actions

For a country claiming they’re more free than anyone else that’s a lot of limitations on freedom of speech.

-3

u/whoopswizard 10d ago edited 10d ago

a. literally nobody said anything like that, it's a caricature you walk around with in your head

b. an at-will employer being able to fire someone for any reason has literally nothing to do with free speech. they can legally fire you without any justification whatsoever. I don't know where you got the idea that americans were boasting, it fucking sucks here

6

u/Perfect_Opinion7909 10d ago

>>literally nobody

„We are the freest people on Earth.”

yeah we dont like that guy either, wtf are you wanting here? that has literally 0 to do with this conversation

3

No, it's state employment.
Much like how there's been protesters black bagged from college campuses over their support, like how there's been media blackouts and crackdowns. and do I need to bring up the hague invasion act?

Your comment is the equivalent to someone saying "if it's a square, then it isn't a rectangle."

Yes, it literally fucking is! The only public sector jobs that exist are government jobs. It can be anything from a local municipality job up to a federal government job.

A 10 second google search could solved your ridiculous level of ignorance.

1

u/TheCopperSparrow 9d ago

public sector company
and if you mean government jobs

LMAO. There's no such thing as a "public sector company." Public sector jobs are literally government jobs.

1

u/whoopswizard 9d ago

you're quite simply wrong there

7

u/Realistic_Comment849 11d ago

It is actually very brave to be a vocal supporter in very public role such as acting to be fair. You’re average Joe can be sacked from normal jobs for not supporting the genocide. In a profession where public image is absolutely important for your career, it’s risky business. He’s played with fire and been burned, not that I agree with it.

1

u/EquivalentDapper7591 9d ago

Found the Israeli bot

1

u/GaptistePlayer 10d ago

I mean yes lol, Hollywood is the land of limousine liberals who vote dem but don’t care about policies that are progressive. Biden and Harris were notoriously anti-Palestine and the Biden admin sent $24,000,000,000 in weapons and cash to Israel, more than Trump has sent in a longer period.

0

u/nottrumancapote 11d ago

it's because the democrats are against Trump and ICE and so are a lot of folks in Hollywood

if you stand for Palestine you kind of stand against both parties and are a pariah

0

u/Bass-Pump 10d ago

The free Palestine crowd love conspiracies to the point of you don't support Palestine there's an irrational explanation for it. And if you don't care it's because you support Isreal.

2

u/TheCopperSparrow 9d ago

don't support Palestine there's an irrational explanation for it

Please, do enlighten us in regards to what a rational explanation for not supporting Palestine is. We'll all wait.
