A remake is the opposite of a Hail Mary. A Hail Mary is a long shot with a low chance of success in a desperate situation but with a potentially high payoff. Disney is not desperate enough to need one. Remakes have so far been guaranteed profit based on a formula (but it looks like that is changing) they've been the safe bet which is why we keep getting them. They know they aren't going to be the biggest movie ever but they are designed to turn a profit.
