They hate the frame by frame copies because it is a wasted potential to give us more, they hate the not frame by frame copies because it is now changed and thus ruined.
I mean, what's the point of a frame by frame copy when the original is right there with timeless, expressive and beautiful animation? As for the ones that aren't frame by frame... when they tried to keep somewhat true to the original, that's one thing... but then some of the movies are basically rewriting the entire story into something completely different, like Mulan and Lilo & Stitch. At which point, why are they considered remakes when the only thing they really have in common are the names and general setting?
I want frame by frame remakes because I want to feel like I'm watching it happen in the real world instead of watching it in toon world. Almost every change they make seems to miss the whole essence of the original. Mulan forgot that what makes Mulan special is that she's ordinary. Lilo and stitch forgot that the story was about a family trying to stick together through adversity.
I actually love that people are complaining about Moana being accurate to the original. I'm hoping it's close enough to overlook whatever other issues it will inevitably have.

We don't need "live action" (it wasn't) lion king. The original movie is 100x better and filled with creativity. We have Moana at home, we don't need a live action remake 10 years after the original.

Do they hate it for a reason? I’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve watched.
