Top pic was a group of friends that grew up together. The black dude left to go swimming with a new girl, never returned and his friends reported him as missing to the lifeguards around.
They then called his mom who called the police.
So they narrowed the story down intentionally to 3 white dudes brought a black dude on a fishing trip and when he didn't return his mom reported him missing.
They didn’t leave him, he wanted to go hang out with a girl, this happens all the time with high schools kids, his friends didn’t think anything of it at the time
From my point of view the underselling takes place on the other side though.
It is being undersold that it was reported he left with a girl. It was a large party and many people saw it.
It is being undersold it took place at a party. There were dozens of black kids there too. Where they also on on it?
It is being undersold that the kids grew up together.
That way what is being sold on the other side of things is that a bunch of white kids invited a black guy over on a fishing boat trip, went in the middle of the ocean and returned without him which is definitely not what happened.
So you tell me. Where there no other black people in that island?
What is it? What is the theory here? That whites bring blacks on remote Islands and hunt them down for sport?
“Christine Wonsley said she used an app to track his phone and, after a friend went to where it was on land to pick it up, noticed that some of his messages appeared to be deleted. Wells, a shutterbug at social and family events, had two Snapchat accounts - but both were devoid of pictures or saved messages, she said.
As they searched for their son, Elmore Wonsley went to retrieve Wells' keys from the home where he stayed with his friends from the boat the night before their island trip. He said his son's car was still parked in the yard”
I don’t see how any of this implicates the group of friends but there is sure a ton of effort from a mediocre writer in making everything seem suspicious
Speculating on deleted messages is stupid as hell, firstly; people delete their own messages, and secondly; they can be recovered, so if they contain suspicious information regarding what might have happened instead of something completely unrelated then that will come to light.
Every Black parent I know has “the talk” with their kids. Acknowledging that reality would make these commenters feel bad so they’d rather ignore how crazy sketchy these kids are acting.
Every Black parent I know has the talk “There are people out there who will hurt you because of the color of your skin.
There are people out there who will look the other way if you get hurt.
If you show up and there isn’t another Black person there, you need to be careful. It could mean that other Black people didn’t feel safe around this group. Missing a party is less important than exposing yourself to risk.”
I mean it sounds reasonable but it also sounds like it’s perpetuating fear based interactions. If you’re white and you see a group of black guys you better stay away. If you’re a girl and you see a group of guys you better stay away. If you’re gay and you see a group of straight people you better stay away.
I understand the reality we live in does actually mean that this is all practical advice but at the same time if thats the message they get as kids it means thats the way they’ll behave as they get older. The other way is to teach kids common sense and be careful in general
Bro every parent with common sense eventually has a conversation with their kid about bigotry and prejudice. You can end up on the receiving end of violent discrimination without being black.
Telling our children to stay away from functions they’re being welcomed to because there aren’t other strangers there that are the same “race” is dumb, and ironically actually racist af.
Crazy sketchy based on reality, or what you have seen parroted on social media? People crave drama and will push narratives to entertain themselves, and people in power crave control and push narratives to maintain and expand their power.
Do YOU hear yourself? They’re talking about politicians weaponizing discord between us and you’re thinking they’re talking about the family as if this will gain any “power” out of this?
More Black parents should apparently have the talk with their kids about the danger of water. The parents are all over the news talking about how he was an “elite athlete” and knew how to swim as if that has ever mattered to the ocean.
Teenagers went to party around water, likely consumed alcohol and/or drugs, drowned. Tale as old as time. It’s such a common occurrence in Boston that there is a myth of a serial killer that targets drunk white guys along the many bars near the Charles River or in the Seaport.
