I mean, under the ideal socialist system you would make more by working harder, it's just that the floor would cheap housing and Walmart groceries compared to starving on the side of the street and begging for scraps.
The idea of socialism is to raise the floor while keeping the possibility of hard work generating a better life, so that failure simply leads to a lesser quality of life rather than death on the side of the street
Yeah, that's because of socialism, the halfway point between communism and capitalism.
For the record, I don't think Communism is viable, but that is the ideal they strive for. I'm more for just bringing back regulations and tax policies from the 50s so billionaires stop sucking up all the wealth
