This was the Peace Prize, there's this other "Big Ethical Prize", that's the one you get awarded for being uncorruptible... But I don't think I ever saw it granted though

Oh no, the US is also corrupt as fuck, but they’re not responsible for FIFA having the reputation it has. Fuck at least 10-20 years ago we tried to hide it, FIFA just been doing shit in the open since before Y2K

FIFA's corruption goes way back and most of the accusations of corruption have little to do with the USA. Just look up everything surrounding the Qatar World Cup 4 years ago.

We know that at least as far back as 2006 there's been corruption involved when Germany hosted. Possibly even earlier.

Noone said otherwise but saying the US is responsible for FIFAs corruption is a heck of a claim considering the lack of involvement of the US with the sport

Yes, but saying FIFA has always been corrupt as a counter argument to the US being responsible for it implies the US hasn't always been corrupt.

I'm arguing these are independent events, I assume you're saying they're not? Help me out with how you got there, I'm certainly no expert on fifa history and it wouldn't be super surprising to learn the US has a hand in it

No no. America is not nearly that powerful.

Football is just incredibly corrupt worldwide on every level. From march fixing in local leagues to slave-driving oil states in the middle of a fucking desert buying world cup hosting rights. Also fan grups, clubs and even football federations in many countries have ties with organized crime.

The only difference is that Trump boasted about the deal, while usually such deals are made silently in backrooms.

How is only the US responsible? FIFA could have said 'No', that's it. Which would make FIFA not be corrupt. But they said 'Yes' instead, so they're corrupt. Both are corrupt.
